For the price I'd assume it won't be dead tone and the quality good. The adjustment I sort of understand but if it sits in the shop you'd think they'd check it before shipping it out. The weather durning shipping was ideal. The shop I bought it at had it for 3 days after I brought it back and I could tell no difference. Now I have to find a day off so I can drive for hours round trip racking up more bills so I can take it to an authorized service center in order to get in the next step in this process. It just is a long and frustrating process that will hopefully get resolved.

You shouldnt accept any faults and shouldnt need to correct any yourself, would be the same if it was MIM or MIA but especially a custom shop.

Out of interest I was the one referred to earlier with a 'buzz' problem. Found it was an amp fault not the DG. (sorry for not keeping you upto date guys on that point)

Thanks for the response. The G string buzzes obnoxiously even unplugged. Just sounds like something on the body is vibrating and the pickups accentuate it. Hmmm… maybe it is the pickup…

As it stands now, I’m working on getting time off to go to SF and get it evaluated by a authorized repair shop. Probably be 2nd week of January before I can pull it off.

I would take it back to the dealer you bought it from and demand a new one ! Have that one sent back to Fender and I would also email Fender customer relations. Document every step of the way. Save emails etc.
I hope you have not tried to adjust the neck or any major work yourself. That's what the lifetime warranty is for. As for taking time to travel, for $4,000.00 It would not be a blip on my radar!

Hope you get it resolved. It is a wonderful instrument. Peace!! 8)

All,

I finally got it resolved about 2 weeks ago. In the end the neck needed adjustment which Fender paid for at Gary Brawer’s shop in SF. He did a great job.

There were some other minor issues I find frustrating on a guitar this expensive but I was expect a guitar gone over like Gilmour would expect. Just naïve.

Anyway it plays great now.

Dan

Glad it worked out for you but... I'm like you it should have been inspected just as if it was being sent to the man himself!! :?
