I am sure there is a thread on this, however, I have been unable to locate it.

I have a number of C/S guitars that were made in 1990-1991.

What is the best source for determining who the master builder was for these

guitars ?

Many thanks

Also, some builders will pencil your name on the heel of the neck, put in the matching number to the selected body, and sign under that as well. Can't be seen unless you take off the neck. On the neck pocket of the body, that same # wiil occur especially if the wood has been specifically selected. The neck # and body # will then match. The Masterbuilder will sometimes sign his name under that number on the neck heel as I stated above. ( Yes, I take guitars apart!)

Every Masterbuilder has his own way of doing things, but one thing will be consistent. You get the builders signature on the back of the headstock, and perhaps his initials with a number following his initials which matches exactly to what's on the owners certificate of authenticity.

On the cover of the owners manual, or inside the booklet, he may also sign it for you. Not always, and not all builders do this either.

Only a Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt guitar will offer these features.
