Well first of all thanks for your understanding, kindness and compassion. Well alain i do not really know how to contact fender in europe. I know my instrument supplier very well and i just stick to his word that he does not know anything more than i do. We are waiting and waiting and waiting. The official supplier of Fender here in greece might probably know something more but again, if he knew then my supplier would know as well and then i would knew too. So i'm just waiting for my phone to ring and hear a voice "hey panagiotis, YOUR Gilmour strat is here. Come and get it." It would be like the sweetest thing i would have ever heard in my life...Anyway, my emotional deadline is christmas. If i don't have it under my christmas tree i will probably commit suicide with the tree's light bulbs. Once again thank you all guys and girls for being here for me. Only a month in the forum and without a fender guitar yet and i already feel part of the family. Thank you all very much!!!

[quote="panagiotis1987"]quote]: My first teambuilt CS guitar took 12 months to deliver and had to be sent back for a new neck....another six month wait.

Your experience, of course, is unnerving and understandable, but not without commisseration as you well can see.

Hey Panagiotis,

Get yourself a mug of coffee, settle back, and read through the whole thread. Many of us were in the same boat as you, playing the waiting game. It's frustrating, no doubt about it. I lost it on more than one occassion, feeling let down because dates were not met. But... when I got that call, man oh man, a great feeling. And when I got her home, I was in guitar heaven. It WILL be worth the wait my friend, I'm looking forward to reading the post that says you got it. Good luck 8)

WOW! It's been almost 3 years!
I'm glad to be back and I apologize for the delayed update.

I hate to say this but unfortunately the Gilmour strat didn't bring me a lot of luck...
A couple of weeks after I purchased it (purchase date and pics are in the other gilmour strat thread viewtopic.php?f=14&t=112&start=450 ) I had an accident at my left hand's index finger and I couldn't play guitar for like 10 months. A pretty bad thing to happen to anyone, especially a guitarist (even a non-professional guitarist like me).

This situation really messed with my mood and my whole attitude towards the guitar. Maybe that's the only problem since i don't think that I ever recovered from that (not physically, but mentally). I don't practice as much as I used to (not even close), I don't play as much as I used to (not even close too), and my concerns about the maple fretboard are still haunting me.

Every time I play I just sound to myself too damn bright  I try to mess with the pickup selection, with the equalizers of my amp, tune half step down, change the string gauge and brand, and nothing seems to work for me and my ears. BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT!!! :? (in case it matters my amp is a fender blues deluxe reissue. My pedals are a boss DD20 giga delay, a sansamp GT2 tech21, and a t.c. electronic chorus. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Standard that, since the Gilmour strat didn't really work for me, still continues to be my "weapon of choice", and my beloved Martin 000-16RGT auditorium acoustic guitar).

I really think it might just be me and the whole psychological situation i'm in for the last couple of years (other things have happened that kinda screwed me up apart from the finger injury) and that's the only reason why I don't sell the Gilmour Strat in order to buy another one that I think I would enjoy more. The whole idea that exists in my head is that "It's a fender custom shop work of art. It simply can't be wrong! So keep it, and in the future you may finally get along with it and find the missing part that will let you enjoy this guitar".

My financial situation is not that bad. I could afford another guitar (not a 3.5k guitar like this one but definitely a cheaper american strat). The thing is that i do not dare to face the situation to buy another guitar and have the same issues again. I still have a fear that the sound and feeling I got when i first played the guitar at the shop will not follow me at my home and stay there.

Anyway, the guitars I've played and I really felt I liked them alot were the John Mayer Strat (NOT the expensive custom shop one) and the classic 70's series american strat (with the rosewood fretboard of course, I would be damned if I ever dared to buy a maple fretboard guitar ever again!!!). They are almost at the same price, somewhere around 1.700 euros (2.300 dollars), but i don't know if Fender still makes an american version of the classic 70's or just the mexican one. I'm confused about that. I kinda think of both of them, I really cannot decide if I should buy any of them, even more which one of them.

This post may look a bit weird (it sure does  ).
Maybe it's just a confesison. Maybe it's just my way of saying thanks to all the guys and girls that stood by my side at those difficult days, while i was waiting for the guitar to arrive and worrying about the maple fretboard, by giving them feedback of what i really think of the guitar after 3 years. Maybe it's just my way of letting off some steam.

Whichever it may be, thanks for all your help, your time and your effort one more time!

Keep on rocking!

To me, it sounds like you're in a transition. That's good, just don't interfere with the process and you'll see where it leads. And listen to that little voice in your ear. I think you mention your own answers in your posting.

Cheers

David
