Yeah, it's a Sam Ash Music Stores exclusive.

I guess that makes it a FSR.

Only 100 will be made.

There is another thread on this in the Stratocaster forum. Here is the link.

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=14128

The thread contains the link to the Sam Ash page. The concensus seems to be that the guitar is unattractive. I disagree - but not strongly enough to pay the freight for the instrument! Ouch!

Oh, yeah, I didn't scroll down far enough.

It's asking price is $5000 there at Sam Ash.

Quote:
In 2008 Sam Ash incorporated the spirit of the Eric Clapton Strat with the spirit of the Crossroads Center. We commissioned a limited run of only 100 pieces of the signature model in the classic Antigua finish along with a commitment to donate $100,000 to the Crossroads Center. That is how the Fender Eric Clapton Antigua Stratocaster was born. This exclusive instrument is currently being built by the Fender Custom Shop.

100 Strats , $ 100 000 as a donation to Crossroads.
This means YOU pay $ 1 000 per Strat you'll buy from Sam Ash. :?
Keep that in mind even it's for a very good cause.
Even at that price you don't get a Masterbuilt :?
It would be fine from Sam Ash that they confirm that they will not pass that to Buyers .
That would be to be sheered by all of us. :D
Any of you USA users could raise that question with Sam Ash ?
Could be of interest
Although I know the answer; just like for GC

Take that money and have Todd Krause build you one of those "triplets", in your favorite finish...like Sienna Sunburst. You get the best of both worlds...the man's guitar your way.

....that ain't work'in', that's the way ya do it :P

Well...I like that color, yes! But it´s hard to get used to it in combination with a small headstock. It´s a 70s thing.

From a collector´s view I doubt this run will be a big theme in the future. There are too many ltd EC´s out there.

Yes, and too many out there that are a great big yawn. The good one is the faithful recreation that CS did recently, and that one is what? 30G ? Short of taking that one home, leave the rest of the EC's hanging on the walls of Sam Ash, GC, etc. for the 14 year olds to oogle over.

You got 5G for a good guitar?... I agree...get Todd, Chris, Yuri, Greg...or whoever is available at CS to build you one. A nicer journey, and it's yours!
