Would one of you, or all of you be so kind as to post some side view pics of your CS Gilmour guitars with the Tremolo arm in place, and a pic of the bridge saddle. How far are you guys screwing it in, until the threads are not visable? Long story short I am back in the states, and I am looking to buy one, and have a deposit on one, but there is something just not right about it.

Thanks a lot!!!

Hi BJW

Just give me one night and tomorrow I'll post pics as you wish
For your info the tremolo bar stops sharply at one position (at least on mine)

Thanks a lot Snowy. Again, greatly appreciated. The CS I am looking at, when installed the tremolo arm is amost at a 45 degree angle, and when used to play seems too far from the strings.

Maybe I am too used to my current Strat.

It's really strange. I will try to get a pic of it. Maybe I need to go to NYC for one. But it does feel good to be home :D

I would have done it tonight, only the batteries in my camera are dead. I'll do it in the morning, I'm pretty sure the forum opens at 13:00 my time. I'll have the pic up by then for you, hope it helps dude.

Turns out it wasn't the batteries that died, it was my camera  I just took it to the PC place in town, hopefully they can fix it. Sorry about this BJW, hopefully Alain is having better luck with the pix. The dude in the store says he will call me tomorrow, to let me know about my camera. If it can't be fixed, I'll need to get a new one. But that won't be until Saturday at the earliest, my apologies again bud.

Hi BJW ,
here are some photos:

The tremolo arm has to be screwed 16 (yes 2x8) turns before reaching its limit; most probably by hitting the bottom of the cavity as it stops turning instantly at the position you can see on the second photo.
If one wants more flexibility, a little spring could be dropped into the cavity.

Hope this helps

Alain

Hi Alain,

In the plastic bag in which came the tremolo arm there was a small spring which I assumed was for the tremolo cavity - it certainly fitted in there.

It make the arm stay in place wherever you swing it.

to stop it fali out I also put a very small blob of Press Stick in there at the bottom.

Hi Caleb

Yes I do that also for some other Strats but I like the blocked position of that one where I want it to stay.

[quote="Blue Jay Way"]: He modified the arm for his guitar consistent with his playing style. He seems to use his fourth and fifth fingers to engage the arm. There are excellent stills in Taylor's book showing this and, of course, it can been seen on most videos.

Go for it. NOS or Relic, there isn't a disappointed owner in the forum

Thank you all, I really appreciate it, especially the pics!
I think that the trem arm that they have is not correct. It does not match the pic in PT's book or look like your pics. I think someone lifted it, and they are using something different. I got a weird feeling in my gut about it, and I usually trust it. I will see if I can get a pic to show you what I mean.
It's almost like they bought a Callaham or something becuase the finish does not match either.

Time to keep looking!!

Buyer beware. Jeeze.......

I would notify Fender Consumer Relations of your suspicions at consumerrelations@fender.com and identify the vendor. With this guitar, in particular, it is serious business. Each guitar carries a COA which gives it standing.
