Orvilleowner has alerted me that there is a conflict between the last two digits of my COA and my neck plate # which I failed to recognize. The paper reads "61" and the neck plate reads "51". I have notified my dealer.

I hope no one else finds this to be true in their own right. I suspect that it does mean there is another NOS 'switchie' out there.

I don't know about your track records in life, but this is just the kind of stuff that happens to me. :!: :?

Have to take it with a :P

Are we at all surprised???????????????????????? Me thinks not

It's likely a tempest in a teapot. Alains's observation that this is not a limited edtion is relevant, but I am sure that there will certainly be a select group of owners of this lot.

I will keep ya'll informed. Everyone should verify that their numbers match

Doc

Could be worth a mint in years to come. Manufacturer mistakes on a flagship level guitar. I'd milk that one for all its worth.

Me too
But if they are mismatched the only thing to do is to send back the COA to your Dealer who'll send it back to Fender for replacement but (bad news) the new COA will have an updated date, not the original one :?

One more thing you're going to love.....the inspection tag on the guitar has the R# written in under a signature in the same ink.....but.....it's is NOT the number on the neck plate.....i.e. this guitar passed inspection... :?

If I do this sort of thing they call it malpractice :P

Doc is talking about the paper tag that was hanging on the tuners! I think, it is hand written.

Correct....and I'm told that they won't change that because it traveled with the guitar during production, but they are sending me a new COA because the error is in the paper not the guitar.

For all our information...Orville can put down his pen. To make a long story short... R#'s are computer selected randomly from an array whose limits are set by the Custom Shop, and assigned to guitars. There is no regular numerical sequencing to this process nor assignment to dates.

Game, set, match.

NEXT :?:

In line with my comments on the allocation of R#'s for this guitar my vendor states that in addition to computer random selection, the date on the COA is not necessarily tied to the finish date of manufacture. I am just satisfied that the Shop authenticates the guitar.

Any further thoughts on that.

Doc

Will you keep a COA with a different number than on the back plate of your guitar or Fender is sending a new Matching COA to you ?

They acknowledge the number on the COA and QC tag which traveled down the line with the guitar as incorrect (a clerical error) and the new COA will reflect the number on the neckplate. The QC tag will likely remain as is because there are other operations which it validates even though the R# was transposed incorrectly

Yup. That's not surprising. For fun, I could try to guess the limits!
