Just checked with the tag manual from my '62.
It says:
a) front position, neck pick up for soft rythm
b) middle position , middle pick up for straight rythm
c) back position, bridge pick up for lead work

So....

Thought i may have developed some weird form of narcolepsy and was sleep posting.

Anyway Doc, i'm really happy for you and your new wooden friend. May your years of tone filled delight together be plentiful.
Now play it like your duelling the devil in Georgia. :D

Thank you for your good wishes. You'll more than likely find me standing at the crossroads waiting to make my deal. 8)

With respect to the above referenced quote, were this not a family oriented forum, and not having to answer to the 'Bondsman' for my improprieties, I could have a field day with that. :P :P

In the midst of all of this business with the new Gilmours, it occurred to me that wouldn't it have been great if Fender had done an NOS '57 Blackie which was in reach of more of us? I still hold fast to my belief that the '57 Hotrod IS it. The mods being necessary for 'contractual' reasons. It answers both the 'Blackie' and 'Brownie' questions.
