I wanted to start this thread to thank all of those individuals that were involved in bringing the David Gilmour Strat to fruition, from David & Phil to all the guys at Fender, and to all the tried and true fans here on our little site, the pics, discussions, etc. have been fantastic.

I can not get enough information about this guitar. I am like a sponge when it comes to reading all of the posts, books, etc. But I know one thing, from all of the information that I have seen, heard, talked about etc. Fender put together one FINE quality instrument. I hope to have my NOS under the Christmas tree when I get back to the states in December.

I know there are a lot of folks out there that are on the fence about this guitar, NOS or Relic, or the price, but again, from what I have seen, heard, etc., it is worth the money spent. Not only in the craftsmanship of the instrument itself, but also for the passion that went into it from all involved, that includes those that laid their hard earned dollar down for it.
I know that goes into every CS model, but this one, to me, is very special. Those that have one know what I mean. Not to mention it was j_u_s_t within my reach as far a price range. And again for that reason, I say cheers, and thank you very much indeed!

I agree, David insisted that it was correct in the making (as he turned down several prototypes and that the price range was within reach of his fans) Cheers to all involved!! 8) 8)

I got the strap from a dude in New York Doc, I have his wesite addy posted on another DG thread here. I did get a really nice CS strap with the Strat though, just like everyone else. I read on another thread, you've ordered the NOS. You're gonna love it, I kid you not.

Here's that link Doc... http://jeridesigns.com/customguitarstrapshome.htm

Nice "ouch" pricing on that limited catalog of straps. I wouldn't be surprised if she increases her inventory on that strap now that the guitar is in circulation along with her link. Are you familiar with the line of Jody Head straps. Another "artiste" 'strap maker to the stars'.

I purchased a rather nice black leather strap for my '89 Clapton which will also go well with the Gilmour. At first opportunity I will put the name of the maker on the Forum.

The Gilmour has been in the dealer's hands since yesterday before noon. I ordered it last Saturday.

That ought to make you crazy!! Sorry.

More later.

Doc

Snowy and others: go to www.franklinstrap.com..
In the "Leather and Chrome Series" I bought the black with natural stitching for the pewter Clapton. I'm thinking of the black with red stitching for the Gilmour.
