And who would it be to custom paint a guitar and change the bridge to Floyd Rose?

Find the thread titled "Team Built Pricing". Those are the basics. Start from there. Anything additional in terms of workmanship and parts adds to cost and moves in to the Masterbuilt category. One luthier builds the guitar.

The bottom line is: You spec out your guitar, submit it to an authorized Custom Shop dealer and wait for your quote. If it's a go, you pay in full, the clock is started, and you go about your miserable affairs for an indeterminable amount of time until one day the phone rings, and your guitar is in.

Your grandchildren may have since gone all the way from K-12 and are now in college, but you have your guitar. :P

Trem awaaaayyyyyy!!

Hello SecretAgentS,

Sometimes Masterbuilt is not an option,
Depending on your requirements.

Cheers.

and....again....to the exact question....."Masterbuilt'' means one luthier builds your guitar. Team...is self explanatory.

And if you insist on a specific Masterbuilder it won't cost you more but the waiting time might expand exponentially.

Hi Alain:As a momentary aside, I wanted to take advantage of this link to let you know that I've just this afternoon ordered a Gilmour NOS. Not having the luxury of that 'hobby' room of yours, two of mine were swapped out for it. No matter.

Back on the topic, perhaps you can, through a confidential link, give ''SAS" any additional thoughts you might have concerning your response.

Hi Doc

Ah,... I see,... you went to the Dark Room of "Related Gear"

YES I do play guitar/and keyboards since I don't buy stuff just to look at it while drinking a whisky. Although  ....

Nothing secret about selecting a named Masterbuider; but some may have a specific task for a Limited Edition of which they are the only builder -like Todd Krause for the 50 Crashocasters..
But just a different colour and to install a Floyd Rose tremolo won't take them too much time, this can be done during a "break "in their commissinoned work . But I don't see the interest of doing so..

Alain

I opted for the NOS. My wife has always had an esthetic about guitars as art and has no use for paying high end cash for "relic'd' wood. I could see her disappointment that I was letting the tortoise shell Hiland, and the SRV finished Clapton go. She wanted them hung in my study, eventually, however, I have other ideas for the use of the wall space. Thus, I decided to go the more 'politically' correct route. Sans the cosmetics, its the same guitar, which is what it is all about in the first place. I hope she will at least be pleased with the interior of the case.

In addition, in thinking about my home in Florida, my storage space is going to be limited and I need to avoid 'wars' about decor. That has already been addressed by me elsewhere.

The '89 Clapton will be a keeper as well. So that's three electrics of substance, two strats (which matters), an LP, and a knock around acoustic which may find replacement eventually. I've always admired the DeMeola Ovation.

I have no delivery date at yet on the Gilmour. I hope I will be within the first 500 but that's not a priority. I already own and have read the book.

I let the forum know when I have further details.
