YES! Do I understand correctly that only the first 500 hundred get a book or only the first 500 get a SIGNED book?

Doc, I'm confused ! :? That's what Fender told everyone! I leave it up to you to figure out what they are doing!!
All I know is I'm real happy with the guitar and the 57 amp! 8)

I'll let someone with an analytical mind like you figure it all out!

I see...so you will leave it to someone with a pathological mind to figure it out. Well.....having re-read the original announcement, the find print says that every guitar gets a book but the first five hundred will receive a "special edition' signed by the author. Sooooooo....to put the question:
-is it a special edition because it is signed....or....is it a different printing.
I believe there was a soft cover edition which preceded the hardcover. :? :!: :?:

You are getting closer to finding the answer Doc! :) 8)

Mine was a soft cover signed copy . Was yours or the ones you can buy without buying the DG hardcover? :?:

I know nothing more about the contents of the case beyond the fact that there's a book in there. I don't want to bother my guys about that. They are a very busy lot and never fail to show me great consideration when I deal with them. The rest will have to wait until the 'week-end' (emphasis for the mates across the big pond.)

I purchased 2 copies of the hardcover edition from Amazon prior to considering the guitar. I also purchased the CD/DVD. I gave one copy of the book to the grandson of a friend. The hardcover copy ends with the creation of the Signature Series guitar. Do you find that in the soft cover edition??

I wonder if the COA #'s are in any way keyed to the luthiers? Presently there is no rhyme or reason, and we may just be spinning our wheels for something to do. :?

So, if it is not too much trouble. put what we have so far in numerical order for NOS and Relic and let's see how it looks. Saturday will tell its own tale.

Hey just got mine :D
It's a Relic
The serial number is R43101 and the COA is dated 09/23/08
And the book is signed.
So no valid theory up to now.

I see no system on serial numbers. Yet! It may have to do with the COA date and NOS or Relic!? :?
Glad you got yours!! :)

Bonsoir Alain,

Your date is same as mine, and your serial number is also not far off (43101 compared to 43056).

I wonder if Doc is not too far off when he mentions that the first two numbers may refer to the luthier and the last three refers to the number of the guitar made??

That would m ake mine number 65, and yours number 101.

By the way I have alwasy wanted to congratulate you on your magnificent collection.
