Perhaps we can solve a host of issues here to the satisfaction of everyone concerned:

Post your serial number and indicate NOS or relic. Let's if we can a sense of how this system has been set up.

No..NO!! :!: :!:

Not REMEMBERING Secretary...RECORDING Secretary. :? Just create a form which will list name of owner, model type and serial #.
Transcribe the info from the posts to the form and tape the form to the bathroom mirror so you will remember where you left it. :P :P ...and...
always put it back there until this little exercise is finished and you have given us your report.

Ok, so I have a bunch of serial numbers with dates (per the COA) so we can try and figure this out.

1. R44505 date, 9/23/08 = Relic Guitar # 505
2. R43056 date, 9/23/08 = NOS Guitar # 056
3. R43512 date, 10/01/08 = NOS Guitar # 512
4. R44579 date, I don't have the date for this one Relic Guitar # 579
5. (this one is mine) R44237, date 9/23/08 = Relic Guitar # 237

This is my theory but I think it is pretty close to home. R44 is Relic, R43 is NOS and the following 3 numbers is the number of the guitar produced; check also the COA's date for reference.

Let me know what you think, I could be wrong.

Cheers,

Manuel

Yes it's wrong as mine starts with R44 and it is NOS. Look at the above post. Thanks, the more #s we get maybe we can figure it out or it may be completely random because Fender wants to be the only one in the know!!

Mr Hopkins, just a small correction.

My DG is a RELIC and the serial number is 43056 dated 09/23/08.

Ihope we can figure something out.

Do you think that thepeople at Fender ever read this forum?

If so - why hasnt anyone from there chipped in an explanation??

Doc, what are you saying? Did you just give an old man with bad memory busy work to do to keep me busy or to try to exercise my feeble mind?

A simple data analysis, nothing more. So far, no discernable pattern. We'll have to wait until we have more of a representative sample and then place them in numerical order according to model. Meanwhile, this will serve to help stave off any potential senile dementia. :P
