Completely off topic, but I just wanted to thank Alain for tip about the Blackie Strat on Daves Guitar, I flew this weekend to WI with a bunch of guitars to trade and am half way into being the owner of my own Blackie. Thanks a lot Alain,
Manuel

My pleasure Manuel.
Dave told me

Thank you kindly for the nice welcome, fhopkins! Seems to be a lot of knowledgable people here. What I find on forums many times is that a lot of young players are looking for answers, and sometimes they get straight forward advice based on years of experience. Sometimes they get platitudes because " everyone should be allowed an opinion'. This is OK perhaps, and things can go round and round. I hope folks can forgive me for being straight forward in my approach. I'm truly trying to cut through some of the misconceptions and BS, and Alain uncovered some with the Reliced/NOS thing. I thought he addressed it well.

Get a NOS instead of Relic = can save some money. If you prefer Relic look more, then just tie a rope to the head stock of the NOS and pull it behind your car. After few miles it will look like a Relic for sure. Never got why people wanna pay any extra for beaten things - those beaten things should be cheaper, as if they screw up the NOS model´s finish then it´s instantly a Relic model....This is good just for the factory as they can earn more money by their mistakes = smart thing but doesn´t work for me...I accept no single scratch on my guitars when I buy them - those ugly scratches come by itself as time goes by - no need to pay any extra for them...

Haha... I'm with you, Reggae man - been having similar discussions in my collector's forum here... http://www.guitar-collector.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=12

I want my new guitars perfect and shiny... if I want dents and scratches I'll by a genuine used one!
