Hi everybody

I'm looking for a stratocaster MB, in a closet classic version, which seems to be not so frequent. I just saw and played on, it sounds really great, but it was a relic one...and no dealer close to where I live seem to have a classic closet one.

I've been told to get in touch with the CS directly: how can I do that? The price will certainly much higher than through a delaer, right...?

thanks for your comments!

The idea behind calling the Custom Shop is to help line out what you want, then find a dealer to help make it happen. At this time we do not sell direct.

Your guitar choice is not that rare, it's just that most of the store MB guitars are either requests or special items the builder thought would be cool.

MB guitars are great if you want a special year, special color, stop tail, or anything else that steps out of the team built range. It's a great way to have a Fender exactly how you want it.

Good Luck :D

Hey Emery, would something as straightforward as say, getting gold hardware on a standard model require C.S. involvement (and pricing)? How do you go about requesting something out of the ordinary on a guitar not typically a C.S. model, or does that make it a C.S.? Thanks...

n.

...sorry about hijacking your thread bertrand :?

Any change to a catalog guitar, such as color, hardware, electronics, etc, would make it a CS. The level of the changes would determine whether or not it would be a Team Built or Master Built. Exotic woods, AAA tops, bound neck, etc, would move it to the Master Built range. I have the Custom Shop guidelines, and will post them on the Product Specialist My Space page. http://www.myspace.com/fenderguys

If you go to your local CS dealer, they will have the contact info for ordering.

Thanks for your comments.

I understand that ordering a MB strat would be quite long...What is the average waiting period? 9 months? More...?
At the same time, the more I see the relic one, the more I like it....I'm close to call my banker!

The back log would depend on several factors.

Current projects, special runs (Andy Summers, SRV, Blackie), supplies(special wood requests, etc), and amount of Custom work requested on your order. Certain builders are more loaded than others; each is amazing and are Master Builders for a reason.

You would have to have your dealer ask Custom Shop sales about a time estimate.

I have my eye on a MB STRAT myself, saving my nickels.

Good luck,

Locate a Custom dealer near you, they are very well versed in all things custom shop. Most of the larger dealers have stock so if you search around you may not have to wait. Also a number of dealers over the internet are very reputable and will make you a happy camper. If you want some recommendations I would be happy to oblige. My take is if you order a masterbuilt be prepared to wait at least 12 months, but the gratification after the wait is well worth it.

Hi everyone,

The temptation was too strong...I've booked the Chris Flemings Strat I saw at my dealer. I should have it by the end of the month...!!! I've bought with it a small amp to play at home, and choose the blues junior. I was very interested in the 57 deluxe, but it has no reverb and no master, and the master is very usefull when you need some overdrive when having a baby sleeping in the same house.

thanks for your comments!
