Hi!

Maybe someone in the subforum has a similar problem with nickel and can help. I'd greatly appreciate it!

I would like to purchase a custom shop strat but I have a mild nickel allergy. I've found a guitar that I like but I know the bridge contains nickel. I presume the frets are made of nickel silver.

What are my options? I can handle chrome bridges so maybe I can go about replacing the nickel bridge with a chrome-plated one? Maybe use bronze saddles.

Are there chrome bridges available for custom shop strats that will retain the tone? I'd keep the original parts, of course.

For the frets I'd probably refret with EVO fret wire eventually, if stainless steel strings aren't enough (Ernie Ball strings use 0% nickel).

Thanks!

Strat bridge plates come in either chrome or gold, no nickel. Callahan offers stainless-steel bridge saddles so that should solve your most pressing problem.

Thank you for commenting.

Does this include custom reliced strats? I have a Nocaster with nickle knobs, tuning pegs, and even the bridge plate. It's a lovely guitar but it makes me blister up.

Stainless Steel contains come 17% nickel in most cases.

I was forced to switch over to Ernie Ball Stainless Steel which they claim does not use nickel.

After playing for 30+ years it's really annoying.

I couldn't hazard a guess as to what the Custom Shop uses since so many of the instruments they produce use such a vast variety of parts and components. But you should be aware that most screws used to assemble a Stratocaster are nickel-plated, at least for those guitars built to resemble vintage instruments. That would also include the strap buttons and the retaining nut for the output jack.
