Hey folks,

I just signed up to the forum and am looking for a bit of advice.

I recently bought a new light relic dakota red custom shop post modern telecaster. I bought it online without trying it out first - probably not the best thing to do, but the shop isn't local to me. I like the guitar a lot, but there's a couple of indentions on the otherwise perfectly smooth neck that find a bit annoying. The neck isn't distressed/sanded, it's just plain nitro.

So my question is: should neck be smooth all over, or is the kind marks/dents (almost feels like damage caused by a ring or something) intentional?

I'm sure if I call the shop they'll just be like "well durr it is a reliced guitar", so thought I'd seek an opinion elsewhere.

Cheers,

BSG

That's exactly what they're gonna tell you.

I have a relicked custom shop guitar and there are no indentations on the neck. On mine the neck is completely smooth by touch alone you can't tell where the finish has been removed. I'd speak to the shop if I were you, you've got nothing to lose.
