'Saw and played a new Custom Shop Fender '64 Bass VI at a metro Chicago show recently.

Positively magnificent instrument in every way.

Anyone else a fan of this octave guitar which seems 'unappreciated and unpopular?'

I'm a great fan of Jet Harris, the former bassist of The Shadows, who, when he left them, started to play a Fender Bass VI and releasing hits like Diamonds, Besame Mucho and Scarlett O' Hara.
This guitar is absolutely stunning, it's the equivalent of a cello in a classical orchestra, just between the bass and the guitar.

You actually play it like a guitar as it is tuned one octave below; and you can still use the vibrato.
Add to that a top notch analog echo chamber just like the TVS3 from Australia and you rule!!!
Mine is a Masterbuilt in Olympic white.
It's mine forever...
