Guys I have been drooling about my DG Strat but have any of you got excessive noise from yours.

When mine is plugged in but not been played it hisses burps and farts like crazy. Particularly on the bridge pup.

Soon as I touch a string it stops.

Is that a grounding fault, if it is I can't imagine DG had that built in !!

I can't say I've had any such problems, she's plugged in to the amp now. Not a whisper, not a sound. There's better qualified posters to help you out than me, I'm sure you'll get some help here Jaiyenyen.

"Look for an exclusive video on the making of the Black Strat replica, featuring Gilmour and Phil Taylor, on the CD-ROM that will accompany the March issue of Guitar World" (GW pg 91 Jan 2009 issue on sale now) :P

This is familiar with all classic single coil pick ups (not the Noiseless, Lace Sensors or Kinmans); the more powerful the pick up the more hum it generates. You can slightly minimize such inconvenience by a global shielding with a copper foil under the pickguard. but hum willl remain as long as your body has no contact with any metal part of the guitar.
A friend of mine, aware of the problem soldered a copper wire of about 20 "onto the tremolo block and with a small soldered copper plate at the other side.
And on stage he puts the copper plate under his shirt and on one hip ( or wherever you think more suitable ) and done ! No more hum....
This problem is even more present with Elixir strings which are coated thus making the contact to the metal grounding through the strings unapplicable.

Well it also depends of the electrical environment: fridge, neon tubes, motors, etc..
The Jazzmaster is the worst

Strange that there are so many with no noise but mine buzzes away.

The room I use is just for my guitars and amps.
Nothing else in there to interrupt.

Thanks for the advice guys, probably best if I get it checked out.
Its a bit distracting at times
