Well Hop, all along my place assured me me I would get one. Even today when they called, I asked again. The dude said it was definately one of the first 500, but... he didn't open the case. He felt that was my place to do it, low and behold when I did, well you know the rest. I might call them, just to let them know. I had her plugged into the spider jam, tried out some of the PF tones 8) 8) 8) say no more. I'll try her in the Blues Junior now

Snowy, I just got a email from my shop with the fed-ex # for the signed copy of the book. I should get it around Tuesday of next week! I think you should go down to the store and raise a lot of sand. Stand over your dealers back while he calls fender and sends them the email assuring you that you will get a signed book! It's a pain but it will be worth it knowing you got one of the 1st 500 and not # 5000. Go and be assertive with them man!! Good luck brother!!! :) 8)

That's good to hear Hop, I hope you get your book soon. I called my place last Wednesday, the manager didn't seem that interested in my complaint. He did say he would call the Custom Shop rep, I've heard nothing back. I then decided to call Fender in Surrey, the dude there said he would call me back on Friday. I've heard nothing since, I will be giving Fender another call though. Needless to say, I'm not impressed with their customer care policy

Understand your frustration Snowy but, just think, what with everyone wanting to be the first one on their street, what must be going on between vendors and buyers all over the planet. :? They're likely ready to take a bullet. (Consider the number of guitars 'Wildwood' alone ordered. Wasn't it 75?? That might have even been a bulk order without actual buyers...unless their customers have been lined up out there regionally for months, in anticipation of this event). I wonder how Fender really planned to keep track of the serial sequence in which orders were placed.

Ouch :!:

I agree 100% Doc, but put yourself in my shoes. You go into town, visit the biggest guitar store in the country. You enquire about said guitar, and part with £2499.00 on ordering said guitar. At no time did I ask about being among the first 500, they informed me! All along "they" have told me about the signed book, not the other way round. I'm just looking for what I was told I was entitled to. I have no idea if I'm in the first 500 or not, and as you have pointed out Wildwood. If I'm not mistaken, they got the first 100 of both models. So I really don't know where I stand, the onus should be on the guitar store. But I contacted Fender in England, I was promised a return call on Friday. I didn't get the call Doc, that's what tee's me off. Either way, I'm lovin the guitar

I take nothing from your exasperation. I understand it completely. I think their whole idea is 'wacked' given your trouble.

But you certainly have your guitar!!

I have the book, but no urgency to have it signed. It was a very interesting read.

Doc.

If Fender was not going to live up to their word then they should not even mentioned it. I tend to believe they did it as a way of stirring up interest and getting a feel of how successful the guitar was going to be. Then it sort of blew up in their face and didn't know how to handle it. AS for not having a sequential numbering system it sort of lets them off the hook. I know it's just a signed book and the guitar is the main thing as far as playability, sound, etc. but they have a way(if not published) of telling the oldest from the newest and should let us know it! The old egg on the face!

Take a look at your registered serial # mine is R44048, NOS. I think the last 4 numbers tells the story .Mine is #404 yr. 08 , they can tell a NOS from a Relic by looking at it . Maybe I have the 048 # which I doubt! So I am being shipped a signed book after some trouble because I have # 404 out of 500, If that makes sense to you! :?

[quote="fhopkins"] With respect to interest, all they really need do was moniter the hysteria on this forum for the past 12 months. There are multiple threads on this topic. That's why I think the whole idea was 'wacked' particularly with respect to giving one vender such a large consignment.

I'm as fed up as the rest of the posters here, reading about this ongoing saga. But..... at the end of the day, promise's have been made to the buyers. And these promises are not being kept, I had an interesting chat with Fender this morning. I don't know if its tittle tattle or fact, time will tell. Therefore I don't want to quote here, just yet! The guy took all my details today, and promised me he would sort me out with a signed book

That's great Snowy! I am sure all of the other posters are getting tired of me talking about the DG as I have the feeling I've been getting the cold shoulder lately. I'm happy for you though my friend!! :) 8)

You're certainly not getting the cold shoulder from me Hop, and not just because we both share the same interest in the DG Strat. Like I said earlier, I'm tired of all this book business. As I'm sure you are too, people need to walk in our shoes for a while to realise the situation. That said, I will still post here with the final outcome. Close the book on it so to speak, see Doc I'm picking up on puns now
