Hi there
I've just noticed that on my Strato 64 Custom Shop with Fender Custom Shop 69' there's the typical hum when not touching any metallic part of the guitar, as expected. Anyway, when I touch it, most of the hum goes away but there's still a low hum? Is it normal? Also, anytime I touch the screws or the metallic part of my 5 way switch there's a hum getting pretty loud. I've read that 5 way switch doesn't have to be grounded. Is there anything I can do to solve the issue?
Thanks in advance

Post on Stratocaster Guitar, more expert there than Custom Shop.

Yes it is a ground issue. Did you know if your home wall outlet and amp have a good ground ?

Hi stratele52 and thanks for replying.
It's definitely not from wall or amp, as it does the same on other amps/houses

Look It come from the guitar.
Best is return on warranty if you don't have skill in electronic.

You have to look under the pickguard and check all ground. I suspect a bad ground at bridge.

The 5-way switch would normally be self-grounded through the pickguard shielding plate/foil, which in turn is grounded to the volume pot body.
There is no discreet ground connection to any of the terminals or frame.

You must look to see a wire going under the bridge. It do not mean ground at bridge is good, you have to use meter or remove the bridge and know what to looking for.

Takes many good pictures of all electronic.

I will check for the shielding plate touching the metal part of 5-way switch then. Thansk
