ok so im new to this whole forum thing so I apologize if I do this wrong but I have a few questions since you all seem to know a lot about Clapton Strats and colors. 1. is it possible to get a team built Daphne blue Strat or is that only a master built thing? 2.lets say I wanted to get a custom shop 56 Strat made but want Clapton electronics in it. would that be possible or is that also a master built thing since on the ordering sheet it says that some wiring options are master built only?

I'm guessing that direct inquiry to Consumer Relations is where you'll have to go for the specific answeres to your questions.

Masterbuilt generally meant that you had a particular design and builder in mind..e.g. Todd Krause...usually for the Clapton guitar. I don't know that a color option might be restricted to a Masterbuilder or that Daphne Blue is still available. LTD they produced years back was just that....limited.

As to the Clapton circuit, it requires a specific type of routing to make room for the small motherboard and the battery cutout for the trem cavity. This routing was designed waaay back [30+ years] when the first Elite guitar with active electronics was developed. That circuitry hasn't changed. The only upgrade in the Clapton, save for the several finish re-incarnations, were the Noiseless pickups replacing the Lace Sensors. Not my preference.

I would be surprised if routing for a Clapton circuit for a '56 guitar should be an issue except for the fact that pickups would have to be compatible with the boost circuit. You also be wanting a 3-position selector switch. Fullerton body contours, finish, neck shape, tuners, and fret size should not be an issue.

Why not just order a Clapton Journeyman Relic? You'll get the 'vibe' of the Brownie with all the bells and whistles of the Clapton guitar. If my memory serves, the '56 has a fat V-neck which for my hands is a bit much, and I prefer a v-neck to all the neck options in the Fender line except for my Gilmour. My Claptons are my go to guitars.

Lefty Eliot and Chromeface may chime in on this one.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Doc

The Elite circuit is virtually compatible with many several single-coil pickups. It can also be used with a humbucker for a really fat output which is great for solos and slide guitar chops.

Fender recommends hum-cancelling pickups for use with their active electronics as normal single coils may require an internal dummy coil to eliminate the 60-cycle buzz. Ilitch BPNCS hum-cancelling backplate and PGNCS pickguard make the extra rout for the dummy coil obsolete.
