The only positive side from the concert: John Mayer playing a Fender Stratocaster a couple of years after Mike Eldred's departure from the Custom Shop!

....that's 'cause Mayer don't squeeze the Charmin. He's uses it where it does the most good.

I've noticed John cranking the 2nd tone knob before doing his lead excursion. Does his guitar use a battery-powered 25dB TBX/MDX circuitry?

Judging from the finish, he may be playing a Journeyman Relic which is a sunburst Clapton. It is definitely does not appear to be any of the Mayer guitars Fender built. Back in the day, Mayer once played a Crossroads Strat at a promo performance outdoors in Manhattan. On that guitar, Fender had swapped out the Clapton neck for Mayer's preferential rosewood neck.

They also did the swap on a Goldleaf body, exchanging the stock Vintage Noiseless pickups for a set of Big Dippers. The active circuit on both guitars was subsequently removed.

I see on Where's Eric that the new Strat colour is Almond Green, which is a colour offered by Aston Martin cars.

Maybe JM just played one of Eric's spares as he was just guesting for that one song (?)

Did he purchase an Almond Green Aston Martin? His choice of guitar finishes historically have followed those on the automobiles he's owned. [I have no G.A.S. urgency to be the first on my block for that one. Chromeface will remind us of those which don't, but that's just fine.

Mayer playing a Clapton stage guitar is reasonable. Good to hear from you, Lefty.

Doc

Almond Green?

9 years ago Eric requested Fender to drop Candy Apple Green from the colour chart!

You know what Kermit said, "It's not easy being green!"

I've just started a thread about a possible release of a limited edition release in teambuilt and TK-masterbuilt versions. Unfortunately I've trouble finding more detailed photos from the aforementioned guitar.

Bear in mind the CS made a 30th Anniversary Journeyman Relic Blackie to celebrate their association with the 74-years old British blues master.

In keeping with the current political climate in the United States.....is this merely speculation or are you receiving information from a realiable source at the Custom Shop?

ok so im new to this whole forum thing so I apologize if I do this wrong but I have a few questions since you all seem to know a lot about Clapton Strats and colors. 1. is it possible to get a team built Daphne blue Strat or is that only a master built thing? 2.lets say I wanted to get a custom shop 56 Strat made but want Clapton electronics in it. would that be possible or is that also a master built thing since on the ordering sheet it says that some wiring options are master built only?
