I recently got a Galuszka Clapton Strat—awesome guitar with the most comfortable neck I have played to date.

It will not be my last Clapton model hopefully. Probably the next one will also be a Masterbuilt one.

I understand that some colors are not possible for the Clapton Strats. Daphne Blue was limited to 2010 I beliebe, as was EC Grey.

What colors are possible? As I understand it it’s Black, Midnight Blue and Mercedes Blue for the Custom Shop models—be it team or masterbuilt. Is this correct?

Other than that it’s probably just limited runs like the teambuilt Journeyman Relics from 2017 or the Relic Todd Krause versions of these.

I guess it wouldn’t actually be possible to do one of these Krause Relic Claptons as an individual Masterbuilt project, correct?

Thanks!

Hi,

Other colours such as those found on the regular production model - including the discontinued Candy Apple Green - are available only as Masterbuilts. This rule doesn't apply for the limited edition runs.

Thank you!

That should also include Pewter, Torino Red, and OW then—nice. Are we missing any colors now?

The finishes you mentioned above were offered with a thinskin nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Previously available @ http://www.wildwoodguitars.com

Interesting, thanks! Although I cannot really imagine what a Pewter nitro finish might look and feel like. These colors should also be doable as Masterbuilts, right?

I know I probably shouldn‘t but lately I‘m liking the Candy Apple Green. I hope EC continues to let them to Masterbuilts with that.

I‘m still very new here but read through some of the threads relating to the Clapton Strats. Got to say: Thank you chromeface for your input. Really interesting stuff!

Clapton told Fender to retire Candy Green and Gold Leaf from their colour chart 8 years ago.

Only a very few gilded masterbuilt EC Customs are still into production in limited quantities, the last Candy Green EC Standard produced dates from February 2010.

I see. So can or can't you order a CAR Masterbuilt Clapton at the moment? You implied it's actually possible in your first reply.

Thanks a lot!

Edit: Just noticed I have the same typo here. CAG is what I meant.

Everything is possible since the discontinuation concerns only the regular production lines.

I see—thanks!

Now the only thing that might still not be possible is to have the 2 Tone Sunburst on a NOS Clapton Strat. Imagine that

Edit: It‘s not possible to use CAR on any Clapton Strat, not even Masterbuilts.

CAR=Candy Apple Red.

You're right for CAR as Eric never specified this colour for his personal axe.

Of course Todd can built an EC Custom in Candy Apple Green.

Sorry, I mistyped. I meant Candy Apple Green of course.

My dealer contacted Fender about this. CAG cannot be used at this point in time.

Then it's possible that Eric requested the CS to discontinue the finish.

After 10 years of this, I'm so tired of keeping track of Clapton and his nitpicking about the finishes on the Signature Strats Fender builds for his audience. Why he doesn't just let them order what pleases them is beyond me. For my part, anyone who wants originality can ask Todd Krause to build them a guitar finished in Pewter or Torino Red with either a 21- fret neck or a 22-fret neck and Gold Lace Sensor pickup. This way you will be playing something which reflects where it all began in 1986-1988. Either a prototype or regular production run. After that, it's all fluff.

As usual.....YMMV!

Doc

Mark Kendrick had built an EC Custom in Torino Red modeled after the original "August" guitar for a happy customer. For this creation Mark found the precious documentation about Eric's personal guitars from that era.

What are the details of the 'August' guitar.? Anything like this?
