Hi

I've recently bought a CS Clapton Backie and sent it to a luthier for a setup and to replace a cracked pickguard, unfortunately, on return the 25db boost is no longer working. At '1' the guitar sounds fine, as I turn it up the boost the volume seems to drop? its a subtle drop and there is still sound coming through when the Boost is set to '10' but its not pushing the amp, there is no distortion (I'm using a Fender Champ). I have a Mexican Strat with the Clapton Circuit so can easily rule out a problem with Amp / Cables etc.

Its almost like its cutting the preamp out as I turn the boost up and the drop in volume is just the preamp cutting out? I've replaced the battery but that didn't help, the TBX tone control and Volume controls and switch selector are working fine and the problem exists on all pickups.

Its weird, does anyone have any idea what it might be? Obviously everything had to be removed for the pickguard change so something might have become unsettled and it effecting the circuit? but as far as I know, if the circuit was broken, I wouldn't be getting sound coming through.

I'd really appreciate the help if anyone knows. Thanks

Pete

Yo!

What's the current status of your issue with the circuitry in the guitar?

Doc

Replaced the battery lately? Maybe the tech left it plugged in?

He's clear about having ruled out the battery as a source. I'm waiting on his reply to my question.

Yes sorry, shouldn't have replied. My Blood Sugar was low, skipped lunch to finish my taxes=lowered comprehension. Clearly a wiring issue when the scratch plate was swapped. Possibly the out put lead from the preamp board to the wrong tab on the pot or more.

Sound about right. Wiring issue was my second thought. Hope he gets back to us to close the circle.
