Hi guys,

one month ago my 61 Relic Strat Custom order arrived in germany. It is a great guitar. Very resonant and a great look. But there is one thing that I do not like. The first fret (6105 frets) looks perfect. It is round. From the 3. to the 12. fret the top of the frets are flat and noch "crowned". From the 13. to the 19. fret they are more crowned and the last two fret has a very flat top too. Is that normal? I always thought every fret should be crowed? Especially on a Custom Shop guitar. Sorry for some mistakes. English is not so easy.

Kind Regards
Bude

Was the guitar BNIB?
If it was it shouldn't have been shipped, as there's still work to be done on it.
Get in touch with your CS dealer and tell them what's wrong - the fret job should be perfect.

Yes, the guitar is brand new. Where can I upload pictures? :D
I am in contact with my CS dealer. I will not accept the flat frets because it feels bad if you got some round frets and some flat frets on the same fretboard.

Fender confirm that the frets are wrong. The frets will be crowned in the next weeks. I hope everthing is perfect after this.

I have some bad news about my Strat.

The result of the check at Fender is that the frets are too low. But the bigger problem is that the Truss Rod of the neck doesn't work. There is no possibility to adjust the neck to the level I expect on such an expensive instrument.

Fender decided that the guitar needs a new neck. After 10 month waiting for the guitar I have to wait another 6 month or more for a new neck. I am realy disappointed about such a bad quality on a Custom Shop Guitar. I am thinking about returning the whole guitar. I am a big Fender Fan but that was definitly my first and last Custom Order and maybe my last Custom Shop guitar.

I don't know. When pickup my first guitar I always thought a Custom Shop Strat is THE guitar. I always dreamed from such an instrument and after saving up my money for a long time I order my Relic Strat. But now for me the magicness of an Custom Shop instrument is completely gone by such a massive problem.
Another small problem: The leather folder for the COA is still missing and nobody knows when I will get it.

Terrible. No question. However, I don‘t think that you should abandon the idea of getting a Custom Shop forever. Stuff like this can happen, but how often do you hear these stories? They sure make a lot of good and great guitars without issues.

I’ve learned to always put my hands on a guitar that I’m interested in before I buy it, and go over it with a fine tooth comb.

If not, who knows what you may wind up with.

Annoying to have this happen, and having to wait, but I'll bet the Custom Shop will return the guitar with a really nice neck on it!

A short update from me. The neck was ordered six month ago and still nobody really knows when my 61 Strat get the new neck. I know it takes a longer time because of CITES but more than a half year is crazy.

Anyone from the Custom Shop here who can help me?
