What do you guys think about the 50 custom guitars painted by "crash". I recently found out about these guitars when I was looking through the "pics of your strats" and saw a guy on here had two. I think these guitars are amazing, and rare. I didn't even know they existed but when I researched them I found that Clapton had 3 and John Mayer has 1. I thought it was so cool that none were doubled and all of them were totaly diferent. I just wanted to hear what you guys thought about them. I bet they cost a lot.
(i also want to hear how the guy who has two got them and what there like) I searched the forum but forum but found nothing so... here we go

Hi Morgan

and number #29

They are basically Eric Clapton's Stats technically.
CRASH did his best to deliver 50 units very different according to his mood: summer, spring, after a concert etc..
They were expensive as CRASH is a well-known artist.
But they are some kind of art and when you play them, they deliver...

Thanks so much for the reply... those guitars are really a work of art. I was wondering why they are considered Claptons strat's. The models aren't his signature strat and I thought that fender asked Crash to make 50 after Fender saw crashes work... (I might have that wrong). So you did you get them, if I may be so bold. You must have serious connections! Most people dom't know about them. So now I want to ask why did you buy it, was it the beautify, the rarity, or what. Some people buy those kinds of guitars as investmentst, did you? I've e-mailed back and forth with crash, himself, and he says that for a painted guitar, he buys the guitar (usualy am std), takes it apart, everything , paints it and puts it back together, and sent to your house for 6grand. I know the guitar wouldn't be considered a crashocaster or a custom shop guitar, but thats probably a lot less than what you payed.

The 50 are over, no way to get one anymore but on the second hand market, maybe..
But they are seldom, guess why..

Hi Alain:

I guess I'm late on this one. Just posted a reply to the member who was beset by that TBX question, and I gave him a lengthy discussion on your guitar.

I am correct in my observation that these 'Crash' finishes are all done on Clapton's by intent, or is it by order. The one on that Guitar Center posting did not appear to be a Clapton instrument.

Hope your Sunday went well. Most of us in the Northeast north of D.C. appear to have done well. Other contributors have had lest luck, and jhopkins had quite a story to tell.

Look for you later.

Doc
