I still have a CRT monitor made especially for its color fidelity that I use for Adobe Lightroom, with a custom made calibration profile for that specific monnitor. It helps, but light is always deceptive.
I agree with blues being problematic - my main car is Le Mans blue, and depending on the angle and time of day, can look very different. Near sunset, it looks deep purple, and on a bright winter day it looks light colored and almost teal. Photos just can't do it right. Which is why I respect photographers who go to all the extra steps to get the colors right, no matter what the light is.

Back to the subject of Guitars, I think either Wildwood or Ed Roman used to have color-corrected photos on their site, with a profile attached to the photo (you wouldn't see a difference unless opening the picture in a photo program). Made it a bit easier to see what you bought, so kudos for that.

Had to sell the Showmaster ,my first C.S., but the David Gilmour Strat will be the one I hope to never have to part with.
