I purchased my first ever Custom Shop guitar last week and figured I'd post some images of it. Having wanted a Custom Shop Strat for a long time this is a happy time for me. I spied this one in my favourite colour combination and it's everything I had hoped for. So far the Daphne blue looks different in every photo I've taken of it!

It's a Late '59 NOS Strat in Daphne Blue with a 10" Radius, 60's style Oval 'C' shape neck with AAA rosewood board on a quarter sawn maple neck.

Nice color and nice guitar!
Funny how it looks blue in one pic and almost green in the next .... such is the nature of lighting, color balance and photography.
We love pics so thanks for posting. :D

+1

Sonic Blue, Surf Green, and Sea Foam Green behave the same way -- difficult to accurately capture the color.

A fine looking instrument!

Thanks for the responses.

jimmy_james, yes the lighting can change the colour of this guitar in photos drastically - I have another photo where the guitar looks almost fluorescent blue!

Mud, i'll try to get around to posting an image of the back of the neck when I can.

Cheers.....

According to my brother who's a photographer, the best way to get correct colors is to always take one extra picture with a color chart in the image, then adjust the colors on that picture in Photoshop or Lightroom so the colors on the chart are off as little as possible, and apply those exact adjustments to the other pictures that don't have the chart.

Yep color balancing can get complex.
You need the right tools.
The monitor you are using must be color balanced to the correct white and black values
Then you need to know the white value you are dealing with in the picture as well and this requires measuring once displayed. The eye can be fooled depending on surroundings etc.

Purples and various pastel shades like Seafoam Green, Daphne Blue, and Taos Turquoise seem to be the most difficult colors to correct using photo-editing software (I use Microsoft's never-released Photo Draw). When it's really critical for an accurate depiction, I'll often place a white 3x5 index card in one corner of the frame to give me a starting point. When I crop the final image, the index card gets left on the cutting-room floor.
