Hello all,

I'm hoping someone can help with this question as nobody seems to be able to figure this out. The guitar in the subject line is Greg Fessler's builder select model and is a 1969 maple neck in aged firemist gold and is master built. It turns out there are two different model numbers for what appears to be the same guitar which tells me some part of the spec was changed although they appear identical to me. One variant is model number 921600718. Fender's database says there were only three of these made in total. One of these is currently at Wild West guitars and has been listed for $4899 for months and was just recently lowered to $4299.

The second model number is different, and is number 1550082853. Fender is not yet able to determine how many of these were made but there is a note in there database that says "Orders will only be accepted up to 50 units total, Globally." This guitar can be seen at Willcutt's, Eddies Guitars, Wildwood, the Music Gallery, etc... but in the case is listed for $6325, now $2026 more.

From the specs, title, and pictures these two model numbers appear identical with the only exception being a potentially minor difference in the headstock decal so my questions are as follows:

1) What is the difference(s) between these models if anything?
2) What is the actual MSRP of each model and could there really be a $2000 difference for literally the same guitar.

Thank you in advance to whomever can help with this.

Jason

My best guess is that one model number indicates a CS/MB guitar that has been re-ordered w/ a different model number as probably a CS/TB guitar. Just a guess on my part, I have no specific information other than the CS model #'s usually start w/ 15 but doesn't designate them as MB or TB. The #92 may be Greg Fessler personal ID for MB or relate to a specific series of build or year.

That's the only spec sheet I could find....
The guitar price guide books rarely list CS models(to many) let alone MB varieties, they usually list the LE's and some year models. My current book only includes models up to 2012, sorry.

The quarter sawn round laminate fingerboard was a MB spec that doesn't appear in the above spec sheet.

Hi there , the only one I could see at WW was a firemist masterbuilt journey man relic with a u neck. The other model is nos but the spec is confusing since in one spot they say it has a c neck and another it says u neck .... :D

It may just be the difference in year of production specs from 2015 to the 2016 model.
