Hello. I have lurked this site for many years and have finally registered, with only one goal in mind-- specifically, to discuss Custom Shop strats, and possibly the occasional tele and jazzy, with others who find these instruments worthy of the focus of their own forum. I have been playing for almost forty years, usually casually and occasionally for small audiences, and have owned by my best count twenty-two Fender guitars (all US-built) and three Fender amplifiers (all tube) in that time, plus some boutique copies of classic Fender circuits. I still own most of those, mostly because I have tried and sold my share of other brands. Two years ago, I took the plunge, and carefully selected my first CS instrument, a new '64 relic strat with Josefina handwound '60's. You cats know where it goes from there... I post this message in the hopes that a few of you diehards are still out there and willing to discuss some of the finer, or more accurately obsessive, points of CS ownership. I will attempt to post these topically rather than continuing this introductory jabbering. And if Mr. Lewis and Co. are tuned in, Thank you for your dedication to bringing these fine instruments to me.

How about some pics of the '64 relic?

Guitar porn is *always* appreciated here.

OK, I will have to finally learn how to transfer digital photos from some device to laptop to Forum. I was a very dedicated photographer in the '70's-'80's-'90's, and pretty much gave up when I could not pick up chemicals and papers to do my own film processing after the digital revolution (why do you think I play copies of fifty year old guitars through handwired tubes...?). Regarding a photo of the '64 relic, I should probably take several family photos...

open an account in a site like photobucket, tranfer your photo then click on "IMG" in the box at right, so your photo is copied and you just need to paste it onto the Forum

Great to have you aboard . I think there are enough of us around who can get this forum going again and who knows maybe someone from Fender will get involved at some point. I agree photos are always nice. See my thread where I've been asking for Strat photos.

Thanks for the welcome messages. I will learn how to get photos into here eventually, meantime, I am looking forward to some discussions of these instruments. It is the individual personalities of CS guitars that make them interesting.

I only own one CS guitar, this closet classic '60 Strat relic......

Image

I have no other CS instruments to compare it to but it's very reminiscent in tone and playability to a '63 Strat I once owned. Familiar and comfortable.
