Sorry for the frustration but Merle Haggard recently passed away at 79 and I've doubts concerning his namesake Tuff Dog Telecaster and a possible discontinuation of this guitar.

There's no indication that it is discontinued.

In fact, morbid as it might seem, there may be greater demand right now!

We see this growth of popularity from the mouth of happy customers!

Ever after Merle's untimely death his legacy is still alive, paving the way to a new breed of fellow fans.

Kindly hope the next generation discovers this famed guitarist and his fine tastes for country and other music styles.

Despite sites such as Sweetwater saying it's discontinued I was able to order mine from a dealer in Canada. My order was placed last week and the price now hovers around $10,000 Canadian after taxes. The guitar sure isn't cheap let me say that. However, I'm excited to get it as it's been on my list for a long time. For me it's the ultimate in Fender quality . I just hope mine has the level of quilt and flame as seen on most which have been produced.

A customer rep was kind enough to give me the numbers on how many were made since 2004. In my experience the Fender custom shop has been the best to deal with. Premium service and excellent quality.

I should add that my interest in the guitar has nothing to do with Merle Haggard the artist and I knew nothing about his tragic passing when I ordered the guitar.
