I am lusting for the new 2016 Limited Edition 1956 Strat Relic in that all so very cool wide fade 2tbs finish. I saw this guitar at this past winter Namm Show, and boy does it have my attention. I am going to start shopping around for a dealer that has this one in stock. :D

Hmm .... 2 years ago, we saw the CS 1954 Relic Strat; 2015 saw the CS 1955 Relic Strat and this year, guess what, we have the CS 1956 Relic Strat. Is there a pattern ? Can we expect a CS 1957 Relic next year ?

Probably yes to your question. The 1955 edition from last year, just didn't give me the wow factor. The 1954 50th anniversary edition was way over priced, due to what I suspect all the extra stuff put in the case, like a hard bound book about the Strat. I certainly didn't need any of that extra stuff and that caused me not to buy that guitar, due to the pricing. Eliminate all that case extra and it would probably brought the price down quite a bit. The 1956 Edition has that nice wide fade 2tbs finish to it, plus the hand wound pickups. I wonder who did the hand wounding on them? Josephina or are they Abby hand wounds. I haven't been able to find that information out yet. If anyone knows who did the hand wounding and could pass that info along, would be great. :D

I always loved the wide brownish/black rim on the '56 Stratocaster's. Sounds like a nice Ltd Edition, but I don't like quartersawn necks and favor 7.25" radius.

Here is my real '56, will be 60 in March (neck date 02/56, body 03/56).

That's an outstanding specimen, 56Strat.

Does that label on the interior of the case lid read "Victoria Luggage Company"?

Arjay the label says US Krylon, I had the same case with my 1956 hardtail, although mine was a refin and not nearly as nice as 56strat's all original example. here's a pic.Image

Thanks for the nice compliments on the guitar.
These are Koylon cases, mine has that nice brass shield on the outside with the old Fender logo. I bought it from the original owner almost 20 years ago. The coolest case candy were these old Fender strings, they are made in Germany. Probably made by Pyramid, which I also use. But new ones :D
No, I don't take it to gigs. I bring my Masterbuilt's by Fleming, he actually copied the neck of that '56 for one of the MB Strats.

Yep, sorry, US Koylon, not Krylon, I sold mine about 10 years ago, my memory is not that great anymore. Almost none of the metal Fender tags lasted on the cases, mine was long gone, but you could still see where it had been.
If mine had been all original like yours I would still have it, a lot of the original parts were replaced when I got it.

Yep, Masterbuilt prices really gone up since a few years. My first Fender Masterbuilt was $ 2600 in 1997.

I would love to have the Limited Edition Master Built Rosewood Telecaster, that is based off of George Harrison's I saw at this years Namm Show. Major WOW factor!

Maybe the very last guitar masterbuilt by the late John English.
Heavy, really heavy notwithstanding the holes in the inner body.
there is a sandwhich rosewood-maple-rosewood because rosewood is an oily wood which cannot be glued in two parts.
but what a chimelike sound never heard on any other Tele.
