Well here goes,

I wanted to share my first Custom shop strat with you all. It was the second genuine, from new, US Strat that I've bought. My first was a 2003 chrome blue American series strat that I got on monthly finance here in the UK (where I'm from). After that I made up a couple of partscasters with stuff mostly from ebay but I was always after another US Fender, but had a hard time deciding what to get.
So I find myself in Las Vegas with my missus at the time on a long weekender for the Maywether v Hatton fight back in Dec 2007. I didn't plan on shopping for a guitar but I decided to check out the local guitar stores and have a propa ganders at what was on offer. (that's cockney for 'have a jolly good look'!) anyway I picked this up in Las Vegas Guitar Centre. Fell in love with it. I tried everything on the shelf, Claptons, Johnsons, SRV's, Mayers, custom shop master builts, time machine relics, 62 57 US re-issues, everything I fancied that I could get my hands on. When I said that I liked the Eric Johnson strat but was in awe of the $2.5k Custom shop master built guitar that had a awesome figured neck the guy serving me said hang on one minute pal, I've got just the thing for you. He then pulled this thing out of thin air and that was it, it beat everything I played hands down. looks, feel, tone everything. A $1580 deal later and I was off back to the Mirage Hotel to show my now ex GF what Vegas was really all about to me! I did check an online UK retailer whilst in Guitar Centre before I bought it, asked the guy if I could check a website I just wanted to see what they went for back home and they were selling online in the UK for £1600 Sterling (dollar / pound exchange was 2-1 back then, so I got this guitar half price. I also waltzed it through Customs back home too, sshhhhh!) Its a Custom Classic V neck Strat, in 3 tone burst, figured birdseye tinted gloss V neck (satin back) Modern classic pick ups and Polished 2 point trem, thin skin finish, hand selected woods. Its just incredible and gets comments every time I take it out to play. This will never be sold on, staying with me for life!

Nice!

And with a proper Fender amp too, to savor those dulcet tones. I'll bet they both sound sweet.

Nice score on the guitar! Sunburst is one of my favorite color combos. Very nice amp too!

Hope it brings you years of enjoyment!

Jerry
