I've had this mad idea for a custom PJ Bass for some time.

Body - Alder, P Bass shape, vintage hardware. Trans Purple Burst (2 color Blue to Purple) with flame maple top.

Neck - Early 60's Jazz Bass shaped neck, mother of pearl block inlays. 7.25" radius with vintage frets. Slim C shape. Maple fretboard. Lacquer finish.

Nut - Brass, 1.48"

Head Stock - Vintage reverse tuners, 70's vintage style decals (that write Precision Bass not Jazz Bass!)

Pick ups - Neck pick up: Custom Shop 62 P Bass, Bridge pick up - Noiseless Single Coil N3

Knobs and switches - 3 knobs (treble boost cut, mid boost cut, bass boost cut) which will only affect the bridge (Jazz Bass) pickup, 2 switches (3 way pickup selector, master volume on/off)

I told you it was mad  What do you think? Is it too imaginary or can it come to life?

How deep are your pockets?

With sufficient cash on the table, the Custom Shop can build anything.

I doubt that they'd make you one with an ivory nut and a brazilian rosewood or cyanoacrylate covered fretboard, nor an asbestos lined amp. Despite historical precedents.
Nor anything infringing on trademarks or copyrights.
And I can also imagine them declining anything too controversial.

Still a builder should be more interested in this project rather than a relic start or tele.

I guess brass nuts are ok?

How do I get in touch with a builder? Or make them get in touch with me?

I doubt custom shop dealers exist in Turkey?

As far as I can tell, the closest dealer would be in Greece:

PHILIPPOS NAKAS SA
13 Navarinou str
Athens, Greece

Thanks!

Can you also post the link where you got the address from? Athens is still quite far away around 1000km by driving.

Do you think it is possible first to get in touch with a builder before the custom shop dealer?

Quite. You probably want to call them first, or do as much as you can through e-mail.

http://www2.fender.com/dealers/
Enter your location (Ankara, Istanbul, ...?), get no results, then expand the map step by step until you see results pop up on the left.

As far as I understand it, Premier dealers should be able to assist in areas where there is no Custom Shop dealer. They act as a go-between, and facilitate the contact with Fender. In Europe, they will later handle the warranties too.

Normally they do want you to work through a dealer, but you can always call Fender and ask at the phone number at the top right here? It's not a cheap purchase, so spending a little on phone calls first might be a good idea.

You are a Hero, thanks! 8)

Closest dealer is at Sofia, Bulgaria followed by Thessaloniki Greece.

Yeah I think you are right about calling Fender. Will give them a ring ASAP. They might just give it a special case as there is no authorised dealer in Turkey. Will let you know when I call.
