Hi, and thanks in advance for your help. Does anyone know which voice setting on the clean channel can be played the loudest without distortion. I had the volume up to "8", as I was playing outside, and it was getting crunchy on the clean channel. Any other suggestions about this problem (settings, should I Mic the amp through the PA, etc)

If you're playing any 40 watt amp outside, you will find the same issue.
You are clipping the main amp because the amp is too small for the job.
Not much you can do about it except mic it or try an extension cabinet.

Thanks, that was very helpful. Is there a combo amp you feel is more up to the job? I like the simplicity of the Champion series. What about the 100 Watt Champion?

If you are comfortable with the Champion, a 100 watt version will give you another 3dB of acoustic power and help the situation.

But as to wether or not it makes the difference, I don't know your situation or your overall band volume.
With a small outdoor gig, it may make the difference. Putting the amp on a stand a few feet off the ground will get better projection as well

100 watts will be loud enough to carry 80 to 100 feet outdoors at a rock volume.
More than that and you will be better off micing the amp through the PA to keep up with the rest of the band

The Champion 100 will be about 6db louder due to more than twice the wattage plus being 2x12 vs 1x12. That second 12 will move twice as much air and give you twice as much dispersion. Remember 10 db louder is twice as loud. For example 110 db is twice as loud as 100 db. Also do get a nice amp stand as TimsAudio suggested. You'll be pleasantly surprised as to how much this helps.

A more sensitive speaker could help.
