I have a Fender Super 210 (red knob). I max the channel volume, use the EQ for volume (and tone) then use the Master Volume to adjust how loud I want the amp. To keep it sounding clean I need to put my guitar volume on 6-7. Once I go past that the tubes break up and it doesn't sound pleasing. It's really abrasive. Does this have to do w/ the Power Tubes or the Preamp Tubes? My guess would be Power, but I'm not much of a tech. I'd like to have the ability to play it clean and ride up the guitar volume when I want a bit of breakup. That's only if I can get the breakup to sound decent.

The amp had all Sovtek tubes in both sections when I acquired it; it had a muddy tone. I swapped out all the preamp tubes w/ decent ANOS stuff and it definitely helped the clarity and overall sound. I just haven't had the cash to swap the Power Tubes, especially since I need the extra cash for tech labor, so it's biased properly.

Hi Adam, I have the same issue on my Twin. I notice it most on the clean channel. Did you ever find a fix for it or identify the problem?

I would check the bias, and adjust if necessary, before anything else. If you do change output tubes, definitely set the bias properly for good sound and tube life.
