The amp works well and sounds great,
If the amp works and sounds great then I would say they are good.
just curious as to what brand of tubes are the "Rolls Royce" brand of tubes?!
I like Sovteks lps, tungsol, and JJ ecc83s long plates from the current production of tubes. Gold lion are great but pricey. For vintage tubes it's a crap shoot unless buying from a reputable seller, but RCA and amperex are really good. The sure fire way to know what's best for you is to experiment. Buy lots of tubes and start rolling. .

While you're all scrolling forums to post on things that have nothing to do with you
-which judging by the amount of posts you've all made you don't do much of. Losers.

Making such blanket statements as these will pretty much guarantee you from ever receiving any future assistance. Many of the members you've disagreed with have been more than helpful in many occasions. If you don't want to accept people's opinions, don't ask questions.

Like any other company in a competitive industry, FMIC buys parts from all over the world including Russia and the Peoples' Republic Of China.

The Sov-Tek's are generally pretty good bottles and many tube companies re-brand then sell them under their own label.

As for them being the "Rolls Royce" of vacuum tubes, no way. I'd reserve that comparison only for any glass made before 1985 in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Japan.

Arjay

Firstly, I didn't say SOVTEK were the best, I asked which were the best!!

And as for "Retroverbial" -why do people like you have to be a smart $@! about telling someone something they don't know? I was always told to never be afraid to ask and that it's usually the smart ones that do ask questions so putting up laughing faces and mocking that I didn't know Fender use Russian parts just shows how childish you really are. What happened to "no harm in asking"?? People on some of these forums are so up themselves and seem to wait like trolls to pounce on someone's innocent mistake or typo error...get a life! These forums are for asking questions so if you have to be a smart $@! about it then why don't you go somewhere else? -Idiot.
:-)

First off, how do you get any of that by Arjay's post?
Secondly, do you have any idea how many people he's helped?

Idiot, indeed but not he.
Troll, indeed but not he.
Talk about pouncing.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I just recently bought myself a second hand Blues Junior II and I am still educating myself about them -I've never owned a full tube amp before. Anyway, the inspection sticker with the letters that would help me date it appears to have been removed as I can't see it anywhere so I don't know how old it is exactly but I assume during it's lifetime it's had it's tubes replaced as they are Russian and I can't see an American company like Fender using Russian parts!! Anyway, my question is are the Russian SOVTEK tubes (pictured) any good? The amp works well and sounds great, just curious as to what brand of tubes are the "Rolls Royce" brand of tubes?!

Congrads on your new tube amp. I think you'll love the Blues Junior, as it's a great grab and go amp for smaller club work. I myself have a BJ limited Tweed Edition.

American amp manufactures like Fender and like was said, buy tubes from all over the world. What is left in for tube manufacturing in the world comes from China or Russia. They also have to use tubes they can get easily and on a regular basis, to manufacture the number of amp they make in any given year. Fender can't be dropping some expensive limited NOS tubes in to a Blues Junior, as the BJ has a street price of 600 bucks. It really hasn't gone up that much in 20 years, but is now made in Mexico.

Now with that being said you are not the first person that thought changing the stock tubes in your BJ might give it a better sound. There are many that have changed the tubes and posted their results on music forums just like this one.

I would like to introduce you to a few folks out there in the amp world that seem to have a wealth of knowledge on tubes and mods that can be done to the BJ.

One guy being BillM audio
http://billmaudio.com/

Bill has been around for a while and has done tube swaps on the BJ and has a pretty nice webpage. I would also like to quote him and say that , "Tubes are like the tires on your car–they get you places and they wear out. Different tires may feel a little different, but mostly they’re round and black." :D

The truth is different tubes are gonna sound different in different amp models, and what works in one amp, might not be the best choice in another amp.

I have heard that a match pair of JJ Tesla power tubes work well in the BJ. I use them in several other amps I own and have had great result. Pre amp tubes don't really have the color to them, but will set the gain of the various stages. You might like a cleaning running BJ and choose lower gain 12ax7's like the 5751 tube. The real warmth of any amp will be from a few factors like the power amp tubes, but if you not pushing your amp up loud, you not going to hear this power amp tube chime and warmth.

As I rap up this post, there's a company that is out there called the Tube Amp Store.
http://www.thetubestore.com/
Although I have not purchased from them before, they have many people that have upgraded the tubes on there BJ. Many excellent reviews, recommendations and some loved the results, so did not.

Once again, figure what's best for your playing and do your homework. There's a lot of good info out there, and it's not exactly a one size fits all thing.

Best wishes and good luck on finding your tone. Personally I liked the JJ Tesla's I have dropped in a few amps.

Mike

P.S. I'm also in search of some better tubes for my PRRI, that will not break the bank and keep the bass from that flabby sound they tend to get when pushed a bit.
