Hi guys and gals, I just bought a 2nd hand Blues Junior II and was wondering if there's a way I can date it using the serial number like you can a guitar.
The number is B-409425.
Cheers.
:-)

I think about February of '91 per Bill M's page.

Wow! 1991?!? I had no idea it was so old, it doesn't look that old. Are you sure that's correct? 24 years old would make it one of the the old "green" circuit board amps. I was reading they have the reverb built in after the master volume instead of before....that would explain the audible him I can hear when it's sitting idle....bummer. In that case I've paid way too much for such an old amp -not very happy now. Any way I can verify its age? How do you date it??

I just found bit of info saying that there is supposed to be an inspection style sticker with 2 letters written on it- one letter represents the year and the other the month it was made but I can't see a sticker anywhere and it can't be made in 1991 because that would mean it would be made in the USA for a start when it's made in Mexico. So, that means it was made after 2003 but other than that I have no idea.

True. The first version of the BJr was US made until around 2001 when they switched production to Mexico, this was version II. They have been MIM ever since, but around 2010 the version III came out, denoted by a black faceplate.

So, if yours is MIM, and has a silver faceplate, it was made between 2001 and 2010. There should be a sticker somewhere inside, on the cab, on the chassis, sometimes it is hidden on the back of the chassis (front facing where it can't be seen).

The sticker looks like this, with this one being on the cab, right side as viewed when facing the rear of the amp. I have seen them with only two hand written letters, denoting the date of manufacture as detailed on the product info page.

Thanks very much mate. Especially for the picture of the sticker. I've searched the inside of the amp as best I could and couldn't see one anywhere. Maybe it got removed. I even used my camera with a flash to take pictures of the parts where I can't see! Never mind. Cheers for your time mate.
