I own a Fender EC Tremolux which sounds really great since a few weeks. After the standby is switched to on there is a noisy hum which is not influenced by the volume pot. The hum is audible via the speaker and goes down only when the output switch is on low position. I own a '57 Deluxe Reissue too. There is no hum. Real silence. Has anyone an idea whether this is specific to the EC Tremolux maybe originated by the fixed bias?

Likely a defective electrolytic cap in the filter array.

You can try pulling and re-seating each tube, with amp off. A little contact cleaner may help.

Good luck!

According to FMIC......

"Hand-wired all-tube circuitry on eyelet board with premium components"

Many thanks for all of your replies!
Seems that the hum is an issue and should not be categorized as normal.
The tubes have been checked and replaced for testing. The bias setting has been checked additionally by my dealer. The only strange point is that instead of the 5Y3GT rectifier tube the amps was equipped with a 5Y3S (JJ tube). But the exchange to a 5Y3GT did not effect the hum. After contacting Fender the amp will sent to Fender for further diagnosis now. But Fender was saying the result could be that the hum is normal for this specific amp. Hopefully it will not. This would make the amp unusable for home use and recording.

Anybody who tells you this is unequivocally full of crap.

That amp should idle dead-quiet.

Many thanks again. Yesterday I had the chance to try out a '57 Deluxe Reissue Head: No hum!
Let's wait and see. I will provide an update after I received the result of the diagnosis at Fender.

After 2 weeks when I got the amp back Fender was saying that this hum is just normal for the EC Tremolux. After contacting Fender again I had call with the local service guy. He told the same to me. But the reason is still unclear. I read in a EC Tremolux review that Fender tried to replicate the original transforemer hum of a Tweed Deluxe.

Maybe they are right.

Is this mean it is a poor desing ?

Sure, this make no sense to me. I was very surprise on poor quality on some new Fender amps as I see and play with at Fender Visitor Center one month ago

It's a joke ?

To me this may mean many thing like low filtering. This not meaning you should hear a hum.
What is the filtering caps value ? 16 MFD ?

Over the year I hear some amps with this filtering , I did not hear hum.
