I purchased (new) a '65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue (head) about a year and a half ago, and within the last month I have noticed on two occasions that the reverb had disappeared.

I turned the reverb dial all the way up and then down to my usual 3.5 setting and nothing changed. When it cuts out it sounds as If I am plugged into the non-reverb channel. Both times the reverb cut out, I did the following:

- switched the amp to standby
- waited about 5 or 10 seconds
- took it out of standby

...and found that the issue cleared. Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?

Notes:
- I don't use the Fender foot switch
- there is no 'ticking' sound (sometime reported with reverb/tremolo issues)
- It doesn't matter which input I plug into (when using the reverb channel)
- The amp has never been dropped or had liquids spilled into it...it's mostly a home studio amp.

Thanks,
Derek

It sounds like a connection problem, not bad parts.
Try pulling the RCA plugs to the tank and squeezing down on the outer tabs to get a better connection. Then put a little alcohol on the inner pin and reinsert the plug.
If it keeps up, substitute new RCA cables and see if that clears it up.

I had this exact same problem on a DRRI I bought in March this year. At one stage I thought it was the foot switch but have since eliminated it.

I have since replaced the reverb driver tube, recovery tube and the RCA cable. When I fitted the new cable I made sure the connections were clean and secure. Can't be sure what solved the problem but I've not had any issues since making all those changes. I don't think it was the tubes but if you have any spares you might want to try changing them just make sure one of them is not the source of the problem. Alternatively you could swap V3 with V6 and V4 with V5 and see if that makes any difference.

Thank you all for your input on this issue. Clearly some troubleshooting is the next step. I was hoping the issues would be so clear cut that there would be only one solution....wishful thinking I guess.
