My new Super Champ suddenly developed a harsh noise. Happens on both channels, whether a guitar is plugged in or not, with any cord, from every outlet in my house that I've tried, with effects turned on or off. Some amp models are affected more than others.
Video for example:

I'm in the same room I've always used it, using the same gear, and it was working fine before, so it shouldn't be a ground issue. No cell phone, computer, TV, fluorescent light nearby to cause interference. Everything is stock. It seems like a "digital" kind of noise, to my ears. The day before this started, I had set it up to record from USB. It took a few attempts to get it working. Could that have possibly glitched up some circuit or something? I did notice then that the higher gain models were starting to sound a little fizzy, but thought it might be interference from the laptop next to it at the time.

I saw another thread where a guy with a similar-sounding issue said he fixed this by changing the reverb settings, but his fix doesn't help my issue. I fiddled with the noise gate settings, and it does lessen the sound on Channel 2, but only when I'm not playing. It comes back with a vengeance as soon as I play a note.

I took it back to GC last night, and the noise seemed to have stopped when they tried it out (making me feel like an $@!) but it happened again as soon as I turned it on in my quiet room at home (again: same room, same outlets it made no noise in previously). The store was really loud which could have masked the noise, and the guy testing it didn't stop noodling (other than when the noise gate is on, it seems to mostly be audible when not playing anything). I guess I can take it back and ask them to try it in a quieter room, if it sounds like more than a quick fix will be involved.

Anyone else had/fixed this issue?

In a noisy music store , you may not hear it but the amp look defective to me If you do all the test you say.
Waranty ; return to the store in a quiet moment. Ask for repair

No waranty ;
Remove all tube , clean all socket's contact with contact cleaner ,
Try some new tubes .
Input jack ground switch defective ; replace
Power supply bad solder

Good luck

Try another guitar wire.

Also try a factory reset, that may help. See how in the manual downloadable at Fender dot com.

If it is brand new ask for an exchange. This is common and they should do so without any problem.

From the video, it seems like it would be hard to miss, even in a noisy enviroment. To me, it sounds like an open circuit in the preamp, most likely at the input jack..
The ability to turn down the noise with the volume control tells me that it's before the volume circuitry. That includes the CPU processor, but not the D/A converter.

First thing to try is to tighten the nut on all the jacks. The new jacks have a ground stub facing the chassis for a ground connection. If the jack nut is loose, The stub can lose it's chassis ground and cause a buzz.
If you look at the schematic, the stub ground is shown as a short line underneath the ground ring of the input jack.
I think the stub is a bad design idea and the schematic symbol is ambiguous to say the least. It doesn't identify as a chassis ground to most people.

If that doesn't fix it, I would take it to another location a distance from your house and see if it does it. You could have a recent failure in the house wiring that it is picking up.

If it still occurs, get another one on warranty.

Thanks, everybody. I've tried multiple cables and did a factory reset. Still the same. I'll check the jack later, per above. And take it back if it doesn't help. It's still within the 30 day return window, anyway.

+1000

I wouldn't stand for that crap if it were a brand-new product. Let the dealer take it in the chonies, you deserve what you paid for.

I just took it back. Turns out my house must have suddenly developed ground issues, because it was dead silent in the store (the store was quiet enough to be sure this time). Weird. I returned it, anyway. I tried out a Vox VT40+ while I was in there, and the first setting I tried was exactly the tone I try to get out of my bigger amps, so I got that and some money back, too.

Thanks, everybody.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

Glad it all worked out in the end.
