Last Friday as I was loading up to do a gig, the handle on my 6 month old Hot Rod Deville broke as I was picking it up. Amp fell about 8 inches and landed on the floor. No damage done other than the handle. Guitar Center was not helpful at all. I called the 1-800 number for Fender. A really nice guy named Tom helped me. They rush shipped me a new handle in just 3 days. Thanks!!!!!!!!!! You are excellent. I have had excellent luck with Fender. For the last 32 years I have been a satisfied repeat customer. I always we be also. I am not a famous person but half of my income comes from playing my Fender instruments. Very pleased. Thanks for helping me out :D

Cool story, I have the same respect for the Fender customer service guys, They always readily helped me with minor customer fixable parts on new gear.

I called Fender customer service for the first time the other day. I actually got a human being almost immediately and was emailed a schematic I wanted while still on the phone. That's 5 stars in my book.

I too have had exemplary dealings with Fender's Customer Service. Also, Fender's Warranty network and policies are second-to-none for production amps. I am, however, a bit annoyed at their level of QC. There are just too many faults slipping by, both in workmanship and design recently (in the last 5 to 8 years). The good news is, Fender makes it right even though it's annoying and inconvenient.

Still, my favorite sounds come from various Fender tube amps.

It's great that they helped so quickly but they won't fix the darn problem. These handles suck. Mine also broke after having the amp about 3 or four days. I don't want the same handle I want one that won't break so easy.

You guys have me turning paranoid about the handle on my BDRI!
Maybe I'll spend the $30-$35 and get one of these??????

I took the old handle and melted it back together.....looks fair....I put it in the back of the amp for a spare. Those amps either go through handles like mad or they last forever. I may take the bracket ends and fashion a leather strap.

I would never rely on it to support the fifty some-odd pounds of an expensive piece of gear. Better to hook-shot it into a dumpster than put your amp at risk. Replacements are only a few bucks......

+1 Why not just buy a new one for a spare?

This is "Supposed" to be the updated version. If this breaks my old one gets me home then I go with Plan B, a different setup. I would trust the one I melted back together with a torch and clamps to get me home. Just not super pretty but that weak link side seam is an issue I hope they corrected. I do not want to buy the same problem over and over. Great amp, Handle goes well with the look, it the way the seams are glued that come undone

The rubber is just way to soft I would never trust it no matter what they did. I'm getting leather for mine.

Hey Tim, you might try something like this......

Image

Real steel through and through.

Home Depot, Lowe's, and most of the big-box stores sell them.

How about this?

Triple-stitched 1/8" rawhide.

Looks sturdy enough to me!
