well I finally found my gigging amp set up. It's a Hot Rod Deluxe 111 with the 1 x 12 deluxe extension cab. I gigged with it last night and it performed perfect for 4 hrs and I'm very happy with the sound. So unloading this morning and the handle broke. Thank god I was holding from the bottom with one hand and didn't drop the amp. The question is does anyone have a recommendation for a new handle that's strong. I don't trust fender to make a good handle now. If anyone from fender is paying attention a soft rubber handle sucks.

The rubber "dogbone" was never very durable, which is why it was quickly phased out by Fender after less than three years' use.

It might be possible to substitute a standard steel-reinforced strap handle.

They sell them simply because that style of handle is a direct replacement for the original. But it could conceivably be improved while preserving the vintage appearance, were someone at FMIC to be so inclined. Apparently such a *minor* shortcoming in the design of something as mundane as an amp handle is of no import to them......

I believe they have improved the rubber handles, my older blues Junior III had a flimsy rubber handle and did break and replaced it with a leather handle. I have a brand new 2015 Blues Junior III and the new handle is rubber but very durable and a lot stiffer than the old handles.

Check the link below they have a nice list of replacement leather handles!

I have a Blues Deluxe Reissue that came with the rubber dogbone handle. It broke on me, and luckily, It was only inches off the ground, so no damage. I ordered a new Fender replacement, and that lasted about 6 months before breaking again. I was able to catch the amp before it hit the ground. I can't trust them any more. I ordered a leather handle with metal reinforcement which was a close fit, and it has worked well and looks better than the cheap looking dogbone rubber. I love Fender, but come on, really? I wonder if amp repair is covered by the Fender warranty WHEN the handle breaks IF the amp drops and is damaged.

They'll probably toss you a new dogbone handle then tell you to pound sand as far as the impact damage goes.

I have a Hotrod Deluxe III with the dogbone handle. Bought it in 2014.
I have gone through 2-3 handles they all break at the same place. This is a manufacture defect these handles were never designed to handle a 45lb amp. Fender should issue a recall and replace them with something stronger. The handle should last a lifetime.

I have ordered parts from Mojotone quite a few times and never ran across an inferior part, try their leather replacements, look pretty stout!

See your shoemaker, he can make a good leather handle for nothing.
Use a leather belt cheap on Trift Store
