FMIC continues to lay goose eggs with each "new" or "improved" amplifier they develop. They bombed with the Sunn T50, the VM's were a joke, the Machete went nowhere, the Cyber models are history, the Custom silverfaces are circling the bowl.

You'd think that somebody in Scottsdale would sit up and take notice.

The way I look at it is, if it has the words "Custom", "Vintage" or "Modified", it will be nothing like the original and not even worth a look. The only thing modified is the construction techniques and not in a good way, just for an increased landfill or corporate profit way. It's so sad. They need to get the suits out of the design end and use musicians. Leo was always asking musicians, not suits (unless they were musicians in suits) how to improve hus products. Leo Fender's only concern was great sounding, quality made, reliable products, not lets see how many suckers we can get to fall for this cheaply made future landfill product. Some guys on here bust my balls if I mention I build or as one guy says "assemble" my own amps. The bottom line is when I'm finished, I have a reliable great sounding amp that still takes skill to assemble and be reliable and not electrocute me. I have two that are old school and one with a PCB. I would rather buy a new Fender amp, but with the QC issues they have, it ain't gonna happen. If I was gigging all the time, I'd probably drop some coin on a Fender Custom Shop amp or a Victoria. With the latter being the better choice with a lifetime warranty. But with Fender charging a grand for a one knob Champ, really? Do they really pay a guy $600 to build one. Last time I looked, the parts count hasn't gone up and they still only take a few hours to build. Hell, I build one for $600.

And one third of that cost was for the cabinet and the speaker.

I'd add "Premium" to that list on behalf of the Groove Tube line.
While Fender has probably improved the line since purchasing the name, due to its purchasing power and overall brand recognition, its not a very respected name. The actual tube manufacturers are probably happy w/ Fender owning the name.
