Maybe you should tell us what brand you're using so we can avoid it. Does it have a colorant that might be conductive?
I have used silicone for years in high voltage TVs and low voltage preamps and , as long as it's cures, it makes an excellent insulator and has never caused a problem.

Using Silicone Sealant inside an amp is fine but you should use an Electronics Grade (Neutral Cure) type and not the Acid Cure type that smells like Vinegar, the Vinegar smell is the Acetic Acid content that is corrosive to electronic components, Copper, etc.

I've used the acid-cure GE stuff for decades without issue. But I'm going to switch to this mil-spec, neutral-cure silicone immediately.

Doing a little Googling turns up GE Silicone II as a non acid product. I think I can find that locally

Silicone is a semi-conductor, so not a good insulator and shouldn't be used on any conducting surfaces.
