I got myself a second-hand Jet City attenuator and it works great.
I dont have any hands-on experience with other attenuators but I have read alot about different styles of attenuators and I have listened alot.

The price on this unit is great. New, this unit is 200$ and I got it for 120$ shipped!

Amps I have used it on; JTM45 RI 2x12, Super Reverb 2x10 and a Vibroverb clone 1x15.

The Super is VERY good with this unit.. It retains the punch (important for me), the "wooo" bass and the sparkle (bright switch ON)..

The JTM45 is very much like the Super with this unit but I felt that the bass got bigger? Almost drowning out the sparkle! (Bass at 0, All the controls at 10 > Bright "1")

The JTM45 ALSO lost alot of volume compared to the Super. I do not know but I hope that this amp will still be gig-able.. It's wierd that it's so quiet compared to the Super which is a 2x10 !? (Super volume "6" JTM45 at "10") Winged C 6L6GC in both.

The attenuator was set to 4 out of 9 because I do not want the Super any louder than that. The 45 is atleast 2x lower volume.

The Vibroverb Clone already has a PPIMV and while the attenuation was as good as the Super (sounds great at 6-7); I will keep using the PPIMV because the difference was not super-noticeable.

The unit got vent-holes in both sides and you can see inside that it is very well-made.

I did not notice any difference in TONE on the Vibro or the Super. The JTM45 lost a tiny bit of highs and it got more low-end at 4/9 and lower.. I did not worry about any tone changes that other attenuators seem to "retain" because they can be compensated with the EQ easily.

7/10 because even if it is plugged in it removes -3dB from the get-go.

Please ask questions if you have any!

Feelyfeels,

I am considering a Jettenuator for my 59' Bassman RI (4x10 via 4 RCA's from speaker to amp).
I heard that eventhough the amp is 2 ohms, you can go one step in mismatch without issue (4 ohms ala the Jettenuator).
Just wondering if you think it is worth trying, I am using the Bassman with OD pedals which I can get the dirt at low amp volumes but am I missing the best part of the Bassman by not driving its tubes?

What was your experience with the Super and speaker hookups, Y cable, etc..Any suggestions? Not alot of info out there on the Jettenuator.

Old thread but I thought I would ask anyway..
THanks!!!

One more question:

Would you recommend getting your drive from an OD pedal into the clean amp -or- driving the amp volume up and using the Attenuator? My pedals sound good and solve the volume issue but wondering if I am missing anything w/o an Attenuator?
