Two grand?? $1400 for a cabinet is a little steep.

It's already been done before.

HiWatt made one from the barrel staves made to produce "EverClear".

Anybody know if that Hiwatt cabinet has a transparant sound to it? It clearly looks like it does! Or does it help give it a "plexi" type sound?

I have not drank in 10 years but may start. I have accumulated enough gear in 30+ yrs to open a store. Own a dozen or so vintage and new Fender amps but never a Blues JR. The local dealer who I've known for all those years got his hands on one and being the impulsive collector and a weak spot for that look worked out a deal.
Well she is great to look at but after 1 hour it sounded like a guitar cord was pulled out and being stuck against metal. I pulled the preamp tubes and put them back in. Problem solved. Then within 30 minutes noticed a metallic shimmer and some buzz. One of the preamp tubes made a ringing noise when tapped so replaced it. Problem solved. Now when I hit say the 5th string,11th fret I can make the amp vibrate. Same with a lot of notes held with some vibrato. Just a vibrating buzz. Took the back off. Changed rooms. Put on carpet, foam pad.. Tightened everything I could get at up. Sos. Speaking of tight. The volume knob is hard to turn. Took the brass knob off to make sure it was not rubbing. No biggie as I rarely move it but seeing how cheap they are I just assume fix it under warranty.
So as others have said and the reason I thought it over for 3 days, its a incredible looking, unique amp but underneath its a budget Blues JR.
And no, I have not smelled any bourbon.
PS- Disconnected speaker and hooked to multiple Mesa cabs and still get a vibration though not as strong. Moved it around, took guitars off the wall and wore myself out trying. I have 2 Marshals, a few vintage 50s Tweeds and various others and most I can make vibrate. This is tolerable but is it a omen and should be delt with under warranty? I normally would not sweat it especially for a amp that will get little play but the price of admission to own this oddball it should be right.

Exactly 100, because it's a worldwide limited run. Almost all of which will quietly depreciate in collectors' storage.

Want proof? Try to find a reclaimed wood Stratocaster on Ebay.

I wonder if this will be just like everything else? Depending on how quick those sell...I would imagine "mass production" (if they are found to be popular and sell quickly) and a lower price.
Those barrels are only used once for ageing whiskey.

I remember spending just over $200.00 for my first XM Radio receiver when satellite radio was introduced...now you can buy them for $25.00 to $36.00 and they do a whole lot more.

I love the looks of them...but not $2,000.00 worth of love. Especially if my above scenario comes true; and everyone ends up with one. Is it worth 2 grand to be able to say you have one of the original 100?

I have a 1999 Blues Junior...it is black...and I paid $325.00 for it 'used'...good enough.

I am a impulse buyer and always attracted to oddball and overpriced things. The B J which I never owned or even played seems to be a entry level, cheaply built amp that can sound really good. I bought it solely on its visual appeal and marketing. Guilty.

From looking at mine, the only real bourbon barrel wood are across the top. If you search on Ebay, you can find someone selling bourbon barrel tops that have the ink stamps on them. I bought one "$25" which I set the BJ 80 on. That really the only real barrel wood needed. The rest is just matched in color and appearance. Making a look a like would not be hard.
I am not a collector who poses or sits anything to admire but play the crap out of it once in a while. The amp to some sounds incredible but to my tattered ear drums that survived the 80s metal scene had a weak bottom end and can have highs that give me ear fatigue. I run it though a 2x12 with V30s and tried a 2x12 with Celestion golds. Now thats when the Blues jr opens up into a little barrel of badass.

As far as them remaking them it does not bother me. I collected the 80s Gibson Modernes Heritage editions which there were maybe 150 or so. A few yrs ago they released the XL iirc with the split headstock. Did not effect values of the originals. Also I cannot think of any investment worse than musical instruments. The market is the most bloated I have ever seen and you are not only lucky to break even but if you can even sell anything without practically giving it away. Play em and enjoy them..

+1

That's frequently the case with small, relatively low-powered combo amps. This 12-watt Princeton piggyback conversion really growls when driving a 15-inch JBL......

Hopefully this week I will have this cab to put my Blues Junior III in, it's the same size as a Hotrod Deluxe. Looks better and a hell of a lot cheaper than a whiskey barrel
