Lost my power cord for my XD. Used one from my monitor to get me by, but it sounds like crap. Definitely need a better cord, but what about something better than the original (that doesn't cost that much)?

Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks!

You think that the sound of the amp is different when using a different power cord? Really!?!?

You really need Cryo treated deionised flex that comes from John's Special Flex Shop.......no sorry I couldn't keep that up.

When you consider how fine the fuse is in your power lead the only impact the lead could have is an intermittent conection through a damaged flex or poor plug connection.

You are using a lead with a 3 core flex, not 2?

Don't forget you also need to replace all the fuses in your house with solid silver ones. Not to mention the right ethernet cables for your PC.

Actually, it's true. She called me up freaking out and I told her to find an old computer cord. Then she called and freaked out that it sounded like crap. Psychology of fear... you find what your are afraid of! She didn't believe me that a computer power cord was good enough. After she freaked out I did a quite search and the first stuff that popped up was people saying to get a better cord so I said I'd post here and see what actual users say.

To cut her some OCD slack, I can't tell you how many times I've re-setup my guitar because I imagined it needed it... oh well, no harm done.

Thanks all!!!

:)

What difference does it make?

Either would sound significantly better with a $300 power cable.

Some knucklehead I know bought a high-end cord like this for his Matchless Chieftain. The darn thing was so stiff it broke the IEC connector --- after he moved the amp around to position it in his church.

On a lighter note, the amp's hiss was MUCH quieter.

In my case, I think it's more a matter of what is being fed into the amp from the guitar and no cable is really going to fix that! :)

For a second, I thought I had logged onto TGP!
There are people there that hear all sorts of things that I can't.
