Has anyone actually tried one of these? I've been intrigued by these small reissues, but would like a point to point wired version. From what I've seen he takes a brand new reissue and pulls out the circuit boards, wires them as if restoring an original, and the price is not that much more than the reissue off the shelf, and much cheaper than a vintage original. I'm not looking to wire my own, or other brands, am interested if anyones actually tried one?(the small clip in his ad sounds really good). He also does the 68' Princeton the same way, not sure if there would be any difference other than cosmetic?

the Ebay ads show his point to point wiriing, looks close to your pics. I've used, and really like his capacitors on my strats, and know he has a good reputation, say's he uses all top of the line components, they look good, like what I had in mind, but would like opinions from those who have tried one, I think his price is very reasonable. I like the idea of starting with a new reissue, and redoing it with good quality parts, I would put NOS tubes in it, and think this would be what I'm after.

I have tried the amp in the photo. It had a Weber Vintage 10-inch ceramic speaker. Sounded very much like a BF or SF era PR, that had been restored. The Mercury Mag irons were good. Nice strong tone, but not too strong --- to defeat the PR OD tone.

It was well-made and should last a long time. BTW... the coupling caps were Mallory 150 and SBE Orange Drops. Main filter cap can was JJ.

Do you have a link to the specific amp, that you are interested in, on EBay

Where or how are people buying these Alessandro DRs, PRs and the like? I've been to his website and I see no links to any re-issue rebuild service. Hell, not even a mention or a review. Like they don't exist.

We're talking about George Alessandro, right?

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Correct. I believe Alessandro was also offering DRRI's that had been converted/upgraded to hand-wired circuitry as well. They looked pretty good to me.

He uses the stock transformers, does anyone know what Fender is using in the 65' Princeton reissue?

I believe that all of the '65 reissued line used Made in Mexico, Schumacher transformers. Seem to be pretty good units.
