Why did Fender go fromthe Acoustasonic 100 to the 90. The 90 seems to just be a nuch cheepened down version. Looking to buy. Might lookat an Acoustasonic 100 but cant find one. Plan to solo out Acoustic rock vocals and guitar.

Have you ever looked at Fishman amps? I have a Loudbox Mini, and now I'm looking at the Artist or Performer. Great sounding amps. They let my acoustic guitars actually sound acoustic guitars, not some unnatural modeled electric.

Yah. Downgrading seems to be the order of the day. Acoustic amps have one thing in common with regular amps. Some sound OK, others not so much. You'll want to try a few before buying. One thing I think is important is feedback resistance. Acoustics plugged in have a tendency to want to feed back. Hole blockers and notch filters can help but it's far better to have an amp that starts out being less susceptible in the first place. Like Supro says the Fishman offerings can be nice. Also check out Dean Markley. Their amps are sold under the name Ultrasound. They are generally more expensive than Fenders but worth it. I would recommend Genz Benz but they're no longer available. Maybe the used market. When I was in the market I tried at least a dozen amps. Ended up with a Genz Benz Shen Pro LT.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

What I like about my Fishman is how natural sounding it is. It's only 65 watts, but it has a line out so it can go into the PA system and I can use the Loudbox as a monitor. I'm sure most if not all acoustic amps have that feature though. Fishman has been in the acoustics amplification business for decades where Fender IMO, never really had a great acoustic guitar let alone a great acoustic amp. There acoustics were on par with Ibanez and lower end Epiphone. Not awful, but not in the league with Martin, Guild, Taylor etc. I prefer acoustic tone over bells and whistles like amp modeling. Still a great microphone and a great PA system will work incredibly well as long as it's mic'd properly.

Thanks gents. I tried the Fender and found it to be very sterile. I am now on the hunt and will try what you recommended. I have a Peavey e208 now which i actually love. Just wanted to step it up. Looking in the $500 range. I have my takamini koa wood and a Taylor 414ce. Planning on gigging soon with my acoustic two piece and sometimes with a cajun player.(sp) 200 watt small pa. Hope to be out soon. Small bars coffee houses etc. Mostly for fun. Loving acoustic rock now. I'll check out those amps.
