Ok so I have an old peavey deuce 212. It has some issues but I don't care for the sound of a peavey amp. If possible I'd like to build a all tube amp only using the peavey deuce cab and speakers. The amp already has 4 working 6l6 tubes so maybe build something with the 59 bassman specs. If that's possible, I don't know much about it at the moment but I'm doing my research so if anyone has any knowledge or links on the matter please let me know.

IMO you never built tube amp ?

1- Better to practice soldering before ; many problem with bad soldering .

2- Building a Bassman ( wich one ? ) in original looking chassis won't probably fit in your Peavy cab.

3- I sell this amp and buy a complet kit from a well know seller ,

If you've never built a tube amp, I'd start a kit. Without at least some experience it would be a pretty complex undertaking to use an existing chassis unless you're familiar with tube amp layout and construction. A kit with a solid set of instructions will help you assemble an amp in a logical order. There's nothing worse than assembling a a section only to find out other components should have been installed first. I've built kits from Modkits DIY and a 5e3 Tweed Deluxe and a Marshall 18 watt style amps from Tube Depot as well. I've also built some pretty complex pedals too. Even at the point I at now, a scratch build still seems a little out of my league.

Have you tried changing the tubes? Different tubes from different manufacturers can have a dramatic effect on the sound of a valve amp.

Unfortunately it is trial and error and I have had some really horrible sounding tubes.

Also, have you looked into modifying your current amp - there may be kits out there already?

Finally, why not try modding a Fender Champion 600 or Epi' Junior. There are some really good kits available on eBay and I learnt a lot this way. Have a look on the Champion 600 thread.

Finally, finally sell the amp and get something else while it still has some value. If you rip its guts out, no matter how good your conversion, the amp will be worthless. A kit from a respected source will have value, even if you built it yourself.
